If anyone has an old ING account (remember them?!) then you can link it to your Halifax one and that can be one of your DDs. Only slight problem is ING require you to send a cheque before you can link a new account. I just phoned Halifax and you have to go into a branch to request a chequebook0

My paypal direct debit is up and running... If you pick 'add funds' via Direct Debit (choose the slow option, DON'T use the instant online banking one it tries to make you use!) and do a few quid it says it takes 5-7 working days.... doing that every couple of weeks should qualify it as one of the payments?
If you use paypal anyway the money will just (eventually!) be sitting there to be used ahead of other payment methods in future so you won't lose out at all, just remember to manually log in and put a request through every 4 weeks or so.
Do be very careful if you use paypal regularly with ebay etc - once you have a d/d setup, they try to make you use that to fund any ebay purchases etc (presumably cheaper for them). Make sure you switch to a credit/debit card if you want to use that - or ensure there is enough money in the Halifax account!0 -
You can change the funding source, but you have to do it each and every time you pay for something.
People (including PP) will prefer bank transfer as it means no chargeback or S75 coverage.0 -
although I don't have any standing orders). When I looked at my Reward account online, all my direct debits are there, so presumably it's all done with no letter to sign. I did the same with Santander (when it was Alliance and Leicester) 3 years ago to get the £100 switching bonus, but they wrote to me asking me to confirm which DDs were to be switched. Not this time though, not that it makes any difference to me, but if you only want to switch 2 maybe you'll have to switch some of them back again?
You do not need SO to get rewards, 2DDs are sufficient.
But if you need SO, just make SO of 1p to your other accounts. Many current ac allow you to do SO 0f 1p.
If you do not receive itemize item that need to be switched, it is highly likely they will switch all of your DDs in your old account.0 -
My tesco account took 3 x £4 direct debits yesterday. The 3 x £1 for the Santander esaver v5 should follow in a couple of days.
The rate on the Santander account goes to next to nothing (0.5%) in June and I was going to close it. Now I'll keep it as one of my Halifax DD's!!!0
