A family and a a chicken leg each, maybe if they open another reward account then they could really push the boat out and get some veg.0 -
Alright, so I posted on the 28th January that I'd sent off my direct debit mandate forms and statement copies to Santander in the hopes of setting up four direct debits to the eSaver account, one from each of my Halifax Reward Current Accounts.
I checked last weekend and it looked like 3/4 of the direct debits were set up. Why was one left off I mused? Incompetence? Possibly.
Ok so I had three letters today each saying "Thank you for your eSaver mandate. I can confirm that your direct debit has been set up as requested." yaddy yaddy yada "Jane Somers, Business Manager" and then they enclose the copy of my statement I sent them.
Awesome!
But they left one direct debit off.. so I've lodged a complaint and I'll let you know how it goes!
But yeah other than that piece of cake really!
Just open a Santander eSaver HERE then get the direct debit mandate form HERE
The link for the form doesn't seem to be working right now so you I've also uploaded it HERE for you to nab!
So then you just want to fill the form in once they've provided your account details, I got mine via email within 2-3 days I think it was.
I set my direct debit mandates up for "Please make payments of £2.00" Starting on "12 02 2013" (it doesn't have to be the 12th of the month but YorkshireBoy spotted that the terms say the reward payment can be made as late as the 10th of the month so this gives a 2 day buffer) And then every "Month", the "Reference number" is your eSaver sort code followed by the account number, then just put the address of your bank, names of account holders (both of you if it is a joint account, just you if in a single name) then the sort code and account number of the Halifax Reward Current Account you're doing the direct debit for, sign it, if a joint account get the second person on the account to sign, date it.
Then enclose either a print off from your online statement for the Halifax Reward Current Account, a copy or original statement if you don't have either of those available.
Rinse and repeat for however many Halifax Reward Current Accounts you have.. I managed to fit four direct debit mandate forms and four statements in an A5 envelope with a first class stamp.
Send to: Santander UK plc, PO Box 1109, Bradford, West Yorkshire, BD1 5XS.
Hope this helps chaps and chapettes!0 -

Anyone who can currently pay £1K into Halifax to get the fiver will be able to pay £750 in future, and can set up two simple DDs [into their own pocket], without depriving a charity.0 -
I set my direct debit mandates up for "Please make payments of £2.00" Starting on "05 02 2013"
For that reason my small DDs have been scheduled for the 12th of the month.
If you run a small credit balance in the account, or it's your (truly!) main account, it'll be fine. If you're purely in it for the free fivers, ie run with a £1 balance like I do in 3 of my Reward accounts, it could be a recipe for disaster (unless you have an arranged overdraft facility)!0 -
I have 2 eSaver accounts (different issues). I assume setting up a DD from each of them won't count as they will have the same DD code?0
-
If the esavers are with the same organisation, they will count just as one, since the organisation will be the same on both.0
-
Where does it state in the Halifax terms and conditions that different direct debits has to mean different organisations?0
-
I am moving my mortgage to HSBC, taking my ISA to another company and closing my Reward account. I banked with them for over 20 years.0
-
I assume thats because the mortgage and ISA are a better 'deal' than what Halifax are currently offering you and there are no penalties for doing so. I.e. this is not a knee jerk reaction.0
