Top left hand corner, under the date there is a reference RCACustx ("Reward Current Account Customer x") How have you be classed by Halifax? Mine is 'RCACust5'
Knowing how you are classed and what this means about your account usage could be useful information.
Mine is
RCACust6
FYI,
- I do monthly manual Transfer £1000 from my Loyds Vantage to Halifax Rewards AC #1 on 2nd each month
- Continue again £1000 from Halifax Rewards AC #1 to Halifax Rewards AC #2
- Back to Halifax Rewards AC #1 £1005.00
- Back to Loyds Vantage #1 £1010.000 -
Do you have any DDs setup on your main acc? Make purchases with the debit card, etc?
I make infrequent withdrawals from my Halifax account, for the simple reason that I have their 2.8% savings account and its easier to transfer to reward account than another bank.
RCACust5
Maybe the number is the amount that your taking the pee, with 6 being the highest, 5 is slight usage, and 2 being regular usage. I'm going to assume that people with '1' don't get any letters as they already have DDs setup.
Thats my assumption/guessing anyway
hi
i have just seen an RCACust1 letter, i've just been over to my brothers house, and he mentioned getting a halifax letter. Mystery solved, 1 letters are for new accounts
he opened his around november/december apparently he hasnt got any dds etc set up yet, and only difference from that that i can see between this on and my "5" ones are that it refers to him as being a new customer and welcoming him to the bank. it also goes on to say that as new account aware may still be in process of transferring payments etc, and mentions a switcher team in the tel numbers as well (not sure if its the same as one mentioned in my letter as didnt note the phone number).
Also, his mother in law works for halifax , and apparently the branches have been given a Q&A for customers questions so that they can help. In short she confirmed from what shes been told is as follows:
As long as 2 direct debits are on account it will not be downgaded at this time (even if the dd's at that time are quartley, annually etc) however £5's will only be paid if:
1. two direct debits are actually paid out that month
2. the £750 is paid into the account
3. the account stays in credit (or if goes over drawn cleared funds are paid in the same day before close of business.
she has advised that they've been told that if customers doesnt meet that criteria on month a (for example if only one dd is paid out) they would still be able to get the reward in month b if they meet the criteria that month, so not meeting it everymonth will not result in a downgrade, just missing that months's £5.MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -
Dear All
Need your info ?
I want to set up a DD payment from my Halifax Reward AC to my eSaver i5 in Santander.
I have made contact with Satander Customer Service. What I have been informed :
1. Yes it is possible to set up a DD from another Bank to eSaver i5.
(please see below)
2. I will need to contact Halifat to set up a DD and Santander can not do this ?
After some conversations, I come to conclusion that I do not have confidence with CS who were serving me.
People who knows could you please let me know whether this 1 & 2 ?
I am asking as
- I do not have confidence to what CS were telling me. She seems to me quite a novice.
- For point 1 above, I did not see any information in this eSaver which clealrly mention that DD is a recognised method for depositing of money in this eSaver.
- For point 2 to set up a DD normally the receiver will set it up not the originated. For instance I set up my mobile phone DD from payign monthly bills from my Halifax reward AC, I will need to contact My Mobile Phone provider and not Halifax.
Could you please shed the light on this ?
Thanks0 -

Santander! I wouldn't use them even to get the £5 from Halifax.
Of course, you as the account holder don't set up the DD with Halifax, it is the company receiving the funds which sets up the DD with Halifax having been given the account details by you.

The e-saver DD has been working perfectly for me for a few months now. Only trick is to find the DD form, to which RB10 has posted the link0 -
I went into halifax today as i am one of those affected by the change. the customer service lady said it was to stop people transfering money from accounts from other banks to get the £5 from halifax.she said a d debit was from a company not from other bank accouts as i have on my account and i still would be taken off the reward account and put on the currrent account. i politly said i wasnt happy and was going to bank eleswhere. 'fine ' was the reply i got... so i went elsewhere.
i went into lloyds across the road and found out that they will give me £15 a month....so halifax can keep their £5 a month !!!!!0 -
How will lloyds give you £15 a month?0
