Here's a worthy cause accepting 1p direct debits - don't be mean

This thread, which seemed to start with the best of intentions, now seems to have descended into a pit of meanness and unpleasantness - I talk here of references to charities which can be used for 1p payments, which will probably actually cost the charities more than they receive.
For goodness sake - find another way of protecting your £5 pm. One that doesn't end up costing hard-pressed charities money.0 -
A pit of meanness and unpleasantness ?
IMO it's fantastic that people share options for collating the fivers. Many people do share their fiver with charities, too.0 -
I assume charities, like other DD originators, are charged a fee per customer and per transaction. So a DD for 1p is likely to cost them significantly more than that to process. However, you would have thought they would factor that into their website and therefore make the minimum payment something like £1.0

Which accepts a 1p / month donation
Hope these two DDs satisfy the Halifax T&Cs!
that's what I've done (with 2 charities) - 24p doesn't even buy a Sainsburys Basics chocolate bar (30p) and now I can sit back and relax waiting for the free fivers to appearHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Even if those options include taking unfair advantage of charities, in a way that will actually cost them money?
of course it is good that people share information about the available options - remember Halifax instigated the change to the terms and conditionsHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I'm not being as mean. I'm transferring 10p/month into a Tesco Instant access savings account. At the end of the year, I intend to send the £2.40 (2x10p per month) to a recognised charity! I'm not sure how much this is costing Tesco, but they have also just sent me a statement showing that I now have 20p in the account. Woot.0 -
minimum direct debit is £1 to Tesco though
(Scottish Widows may still be 1p)
