    Hi,

    I knew that since the website first started however it's been rumord that it may be mandatory from next year for people to allow dwp to access your account and if you don't then they could sanction your JSA.

    As it not mandatory as of yet happy days but don't hold your breath as when universal credit comes into force next year it could be mandatory!

    They would have to change privacy and data laws,this wonthappen although they will do their best to try and fool people into thinking it is, as they did recently at my job centre.

    A DWP spokesman said: “Universal Jobmatch marks a revolution in how we match jobseekers with employers - and vice versa. Nearly 700,000 jobseekers have already registered to use the site and we expect that number to keep on rising.
    “Use of the site is not currently mandatory, and the feedback we've had so far from jobseekers is incredibly positive.
    “In the new year we will require Jobseekers Allowance claimants to use the service. It is already a condition of receiving JSA that you actively seek work and Universal Jobmatch is where the majority of new vacancies are being posted.”

    Feedback positive? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    The DWP already know the following;

    1) There are major security issues with the site
    2) Scammers are using the site
    3) Fake jobs are on there.
    4) !!!!!! adverts have appeared.
    5) The search engine is 'flawed'

    A number of jobs are 'confidential' so you do not know who you are applying for jobs with.

    This 'nationalisation' of jobsearches is an utter shambles.

    Just a quick question which I'm hoping someone can help me with. Apologies if it's already been answered, don't have time to read the full thread. I signed up for UJM but haven't ticked 'that' box. When I last went to sign on my adviser asked me for a copy of my Gateway ID, in case I lose it. :huh:

    Can I, in so many words tell him to sod off? What would be best to say?

    I trust myself a lot more to look after my own information, than I trust them to look after it. I also don't believe that's the reason they want the number.

    You don't HAVE to give access, but JCP guidance is that your adviser can insist you provide evidence of applying for jobs, sent emails, etc.
    Fokking Fokk!

    Indeed they do, but so do the government and that wont stop them despite the privacy and data protection laws they seem to be above. This is just another way of monitoring individuals and battering them needlessly to juggle the jsa figures and apply sanctions at a whim.Watch the jsa figs go down again!! especially in 2013.:mad:

    There are many websites for job seekers which were already in place and already skills specific to their requirements.We did not need another one at god knows what cost to the tax payer.Its just another way of bully boy tactics by the dwp to monitor individuals.I certainly do not believe those figures ,and neither does a lot of people regarding unemployment figures in general.Id trust the view of independent analysts not the dwp.

    Sorry but you first line about deciding if something is mandatory! Technically we do, if I direct a customer to do something it becomes mandatory...so we do decide. The previous poster may not of come across in the best way but what he said is correct

    I love seeing "customers" being told er I mean "directed" what to do- or else!
