Universal Jobmatch - non mandatory

Dear All

Very pleased to report today that unequivocal information from JCP that there is no mandatory element in UJ - do not have to register whilst on JSA, do not have to use whilst on JSA, do not have to show JCP staff, do not have to disclose a/c details - DO NOT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING to do with UJ whilst on JSA

'Oh happy day ... oh happy day'

All the best

    Hi,

I knew that since the website first started however it's been rumord that it may be mandatory from next year for people to allow dwp to access your account and if you don't then they could sanction your JSA.

As it not mandatory as of yet happy days but don't hold your breath as when universal credit comes into force next year it could be mandatory!

    Dear G-G

Highly unlikely I think. It would need a change in the law. How could you put into place legislation that specifies JSA claimants only use 1 jobsite to provide evidence that the claimant is actively seeking employment. Some jobs on UJM require a phone call and thus are not registered as activity.
Can't see how UC will change this basic problem

I got a direction to register. The letter was printed out ready when I sat down.
it also said that I do not have to give dwp access, if I do not give them access then I have to provide job activity evidence

    Dear Red Eye

You can ignore the direction, it is not enforceable in law

Yes you still have to provide evidence that you are actively seeking employment.

So directions are only enforceable if they are backed up by law. What law would that be?

The legal 'test' that Decison Makers use to determine whether a claimant can be sanctioned
