And will he be asking for details of all your other accounts, bank, email, etc, in case you lose them ?Just a quick question which I'm hoping someone can help me with. Apologies if it's already been answered, don't have time to read the full thread. I signed up for UJM but haven't ticked 'that' box. When I last went to sign on my adviser asked me for a copy of my Gateway ID, in case I lose it.
Can I, in so many words tell him to sod off? What would be best to say?
I trust myself a lot more to look after my own information, than I trust them to look after it. I also don't believe that's the reason they want the number.
Maybe ask the advisor for details of their web accounts in case they lose them.
They may want the account id to confirm you have registered & may be able to check basic details about account like name, without seeing jobsearch activity, to confirm this. Unfortunately JC advisors are keeping this secret, raising further suspicion.
It's also part of the terms & conditions of the UJM website that you keep your account details private.
Your Gateway Id is entry to many other government online services, so under no circumstances should you give them this.
Best to be be polite & tactful, say you prefer(will be) keeping your account details private and your perfectly capable of looking after your (possibly) many online accounts yourself.0 -
Thanks for the answers. Will make sure I give a fair, but firm no to them. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0

You can say no, they dont actually need it....if they are asking because they want to confirm you've register ask them to search via email address or ur surname.... It should just flag up on the system that you have register but they do not have permission to access the account. You are under no obligation to provide your 12 digit pin0 -

Personally, if I ask you for the ID, it is just for in case you lose it. I've never asked for it though, there have been times when I've personally created email accounts for customers and as a result have archived their UN and PW (with their consent) in their records but that's about it.
You can say "No" but I advise you make sure you don't lose it or forget to bring it with you to the JCP. If you're organised then I personally wouldn't have an issue with you refusing to give me the ID. If you do lose it then you can create another account or use an alternative site, im not fussy, as long as your looking for work, thats all I care about.
As far as a I can see, there is no conspiracy.0 -

Why would she want to bring it to the JCP. Its got nothing to do with anyone else. If they want proof she is registered then a simple screenshot is enough.0 -

Ok, fair enough, but since you said I can create another account, I'd rather do that if I lose my ID. I'd have slightly more faith in the UJM site if the reasons for not applying for a job weren't designed to 'catch' someone out. For instance, there's no choice for unsuitable hours, or too many/too little hours.
Am wondering too, why I'd need to bring the ID to JCP?There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
Just signed on no problem but i overheard a adviser really having a go at a young girl. The adviser was demanding that the girl has to give the JCP her personal details or face sanctions,
This is totaly against the directions of the Dwp so i showed her the legal ways to go in this sanction sanction societry we are in.
i AM TOTALY DISGUSTED WITH THE jOB CENTRE DOING THIS WHEN ADVISERS HAVE BEEN ADVISEED THAT THIS IS NOT MANDATORY.
wHY ARE THEY HARASSING AND INTIMIDATING CLAIMENTS THIS WAY.0 -
Hi
Just registered after finding this thread on google.
I have been on the Work Programme for 18 months and my "provider" has been OK up to now, however, my old advisor has left the company and the new one is a nightmare!
Yesterday, I had to sign on at the jobcentre, and the guy there, a great bloke, very helpful, said "have you registered on Jobmatch? so I said, "i'm thinking about it" he said "OK" so I said, "it's not mandatory is it?" he says "no" it's not.
So I said, "but you can give a direction, can't you, and then it will be mandatory". "No he says, that would be illegal".
So off I go to my provider and meet my new advisor who is very aggressive and confrontational, she says "have you registered on the Jobmatch site" I say "No" and she goes into one, "you have to register, it mandatory!" so I says "No it's not" "yes it is" she barks "everyone has to sign up!" I then tell her that my JCP advisor has just told me it isn't mandatory at all.
Well, she says, I going to put on your file that you refused to sign up (threat) So I just said "OK"!
I was just watching the news on the beeb and they are now saying that IDS is going to make singing up compulsory!
How on earth can the DWP just denied millions of people their right to privacy?
Very worried about this, what is next, will every one have to put their TAX details online and their bank statements?0 -
Oh, and btw, the very snotty and authoritative sounding posters clearly don't know what they are talking about...
The Jobmatch site is currently NOT MANDATORY, though is apparently it soon will be.0 -
Universal Jobmatch will be mandatory in the New Year!
Just heard the report on Radio4.
It hasn't been made clear yet whether ticking the 'JCP snoopers box' is mandatory or whether just joining up to UJ is mandatory, but as 35-hour per week compulsory job search is coming in in April, ticking that box is how they will monitor this and so ultimately, if not initially, then by April it will be too.0
