So I conclude there is no such thing available as a clothing voucher accepted in many places , rather like a book token is?
Nobody has provided me with this specific information, though I have received some good suggestions.
I have also received lots of people's opinions based on a misreading of my post.

No, there isn't. Love 2 shop vouchers are for the lower end of the market. There are department store vouchers, as already suggested or most shopping malls do vouchers that can be used in most, not all, of the shops there.

So what other brands did your son suggest? Perhaps someone knows of a mall or department store that has all the brands he suggested.

  • How about Debenhams vouchers? As they sell Topshop, Miss Selfridge, Warehouse, Pineapple to name just a few brands she might like. They also usually have a big shoe & accessory department.
  • You can get visa prepaid gift card, which are accepted in any shop where they accept visa - and also online.

In my area you can get Lakeside Vouchers, Bluewater vouchers or Westfield vouchers. They cover a wide range of shops but thats only if you live in the South East.

To add to 'cash is king', it's so flexible:
She can not only buy what she wants, how fab is that at 12, but she can look at it, feel it and count it.
When I was 12 I'd have given my right arm to be given spondulicks. Vouchers? Noooo.

OP, you think people have misread your post. I don't think this is the case at all.

It comes across that you don't want to buy her the vouchers she likes because you have issues with her mum, and you think that she has suggested Joules to your GD. Thats just how i read your post. I might be wrong.

Lots of people have given you their advice, cash, shopping mall vouchers, department store vouchers etc etc

I have a 12 year old daughter, she loves getting cash for birthdays/Xmas etc, it makes her feel grown up. She's into Primark, New Look, River Island etc but a lot of her friends are into labels.
  • I suspect it is her mum thats wants to dress her in Joules and that is why dad has suggested it I doubt he would have come up with it of his own accord. Having said that you asked for a suggestion that was the one given so might be best to keep the peace and buy it, doesnt seem worth asking for a suggestion if you dont want to go with it.
Or even better buy a John Lewis voucher then she can buy joules OR one of many other brands.

You asked what to get her & you were told.
IMO you either get it or give cash.

I also think you are letting your feelings towards your DIL cloud your feelings.
Please be very careful doing that as you may end of harming your relationship with your grandaughter.

Sensible is for the rest of the year . Christmas ( and Birthdays ) are for getting things you would really like ( allowing for cost of course )
