  • Hi all

Spends higher than I wanted but DH spend £25 yesterday on 180 rolls of nouvelle toilet roll so now have enough toilet roll for the whole year!

Sorted out one of the kitchen cupboards yesterday and found 2 400g jars of Nutella which go out of date the end of this month does anyone have any ideas to use it up please? We don't like it in sandwiches or on toast and ds isn't allowed it in school.

Went to Mr A tonight with DH and DS in tow and spent much more than I had planned. Some was on steak, sauce, coke cans on offer at 15 cans for £4, spicy cheese and wine for DH but I also bought Pers1l on offer, 2 weeks of dog food, loo roll, cleaning products x 2 @ £1 each, frozen veg and a lot of meat that will make about 10 meals at least.

This included a pack of lean pork mince 700g for £2.97 which seemed a good deal but as I am new to buying meat I am not sure. This will make 3 meals for the 3 of us.

I spent £84.56 and have more than enough food to last me until my new GC starts on 14th Jan. I was surprised by how empty the shelves were in Mr A and some of the things I wanted were sold out but I did not want to spend the extra on the next brand up so did without.

I didn't buy anything but bread and ham for DH lunches as he starts at a new branch on Monday and is unsure of what the lunch arrangements will be. I am planning to use what I have in to cover them for the rest of next week or give him cash ( for this week only:eek: )

I also have to add a Mr T meal deal that DH had for his dinner today. He buys it using his debit card rather than getting cash out which is a good thing as he knows I would never see the rest of the tenner:rotfl:

Hello, I know it's a bit late but haven't actually bought any groceries yet in 2013 (whoop!). Please can I join? I really need the motivation. I have reduced spends a lot over past 6 months but need to be consistent and keep track. We are 2 adults, plus 3 kids age 6 and under, and I would like to set a £200 budget for Jan, with the hope of gradually reducing to £150 a month once I see how we do - is that the best way of doing it? Thanks :-)

    Hello!

Caught up with the thread and need to report £4 spent in Mr S and £2.50 spent in the corner shop.

Making a bhuna curry using diced turkey tomorrow. My Housemate is a bit frustrating with the new diet and REFUSES to eat any of the prawns, sausages or bacon (I have one pack of each left in the freezer). There will come a point where there will be 2 separate meals going on the hob for a while (or even just cooking our own meals each night).

I understand, and am pretty much there with doing turkey, salmon, Quorn etc for substitutions but I'm certainly not going to throw good food away. :money:

    Hope you feel better soon.

Managed another day without breaking into the grocery budget but think tomorrow will be a spend day. I need to do a freezer/cupboard check and shop accordingly. I know I need a few staples but hopefully not much else.

Wow, you have all been so busy! No idea how I'll ever catch up...

I'm still on holiday, so my food budget starts next week - aiming for £80 for the rest of this month - I have to do a big stock-up of everything on Monday, then some top-ups after that. I'm going to work on having cheaper dinners this month - making lentil and chickpea curries, filling soups and baked spuds. Atm most dinners have some form of meat, eeked out with lots of veggies, but both meat and veggies are getting very expensive!

I'm going to take out my food budget and keep it in a separate purse from now on. I keep losing track when I pay by card, so this will be the simplest solution...
