Hi all just got in from whoopsie shopping and have got cooking in slow cooker, reduced to 40p a pack 2 packs of liver which Im going to freeze when cooked, never done it in slow cooker before.. Chicken gone in the freezer and a whoopsied apple pie for tea. This isnt coming off my jan budget as I had about 10.50 in change left over from Dec budget. Come on just to check that I can freeze liver once cooked as on pack it says previously frozen do not refreeze but can I freeze once cooked please? Otherwise we will be living on liver ans onions for the next two days!!
If you've just cooked it from raw, then you can refreeze. But you cann't then defrost the cooked liver and refreeze it againApril 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -

This sounds crazy, but I'm going to try and spend £0, yes zero pounds on food in January. How?, well there's only me to feed and my freezer is full with meats from Christmas, stews & soups and frozen veg. Milk and fruit will be "bought" with Nectar points. I've already "spent" £2.50's worth on milk and carrots yesterday. I signed up for adpoints and Nectar canvass so will earn points, and hopefully gain enough to see me through. I've some single cream to use, so will make Gratin Dauphinoise tomorrow for evening meal and the double cream will be made into a fruit fool with broken meringue...like an Eton Mess.:beer:GC - Oct £36.17/£31

I'd like to give it a go please with a hefty £400 for January for the 5 of us and the dog. I know this is a lot of money but it is a start!
I dont buy particulary fancy food as a rule but it mounts up really fast and DH sadly is a big fan of wanting whatever he fancies whenever he fancies it so even this could be challenging unless he decides to help me out.
3xDS all take packed lunches to school which generally consist of sandwiches / rolls, yoghurt (4 for 32p), piece of fruit and a biscuit (usually homemade and frozen) and a drinks bottle of squash. I almost always cook the evening meal from scratch but like to have a few quick meals in the freezer like fish and chips etc.
I guess I just need a little motivation to do this but do it I shall as DH works on commission not a set wage and I am currently a housewife with no income
Anyway, the freezer is full and the cupboard has lots of rice, pasta and spices etc so lets give it a go!

If anyone freezes soup-can you help me witth a question please?
i am making carrot and Lentil soup in my Slow cooker tomorrow for lunch, but am unsure what containers to use to freeze it-any suggestions please?
Thanks.0 -
I've frozen some soup this morning. I used empty containers we have had from local takeaway but read a great tip about putting a freezer bag into a bowl so you would know how much a serving was and then put it into the freezer.0

I've decided my January budget s going to be £]100. A bit steep for 6 of us, but I'm hoping just to buy fresh fruit and veg, milk and possibly bread if I manage to use up all my bread flour. Looking forward to the challenge!! I have my new grocery book in tow, and so far have spent £9.50. I am new to this and am keen to be involved.:jsealed pot member 100. Saving for a dream holiday for 6!!
