  • Grrr - took the kids with me for the last Al*i top up shop after school. Intended to only spend £3 on milk and some apples - somehow ended up blowing £11.46 (mind, I did get bread, more fruit (grapes, melon, pink ladies, cheese dippers, ham and crisps. Plus the purely medicinal 3xcreme eggs for me - this pregnancy is demanding chocolate ALL the time!). So, despite declaring the other day, my new and final declaration for Jan is £314.49/£450. Definitely no more Jan spending though and still hugely under budget. See you on the other side GCers xx

No spend day today and yesterday. Had mini baked potatoes (i.e. just normal ones out of the bag) with tuna mayo and sweetcorn, plus a salad. Looks like a MASSIVE portion but I had been swimming and was hungry :o

  • NSD today as planned but cooked up a storm!

18 cobs, spiced apple cake, lasagne, cookies, and some stewed plums - we won't be going hungry any time soon!
I now have quite a stock of muffins, flapjack and cookies in the freezer, as well as pizza slices and HM sausage rolls, ready to get out and put with the kids pack-up in the mornings so I know that whilst they are having a treat they are also NOT eating carp!!

2 days left and going to be a bit tight on fresh fruit but I guess it wont do my boys any harm only taking one piece of fruit each day instead of 2 (break and lunch)

Tomorrow I plan to make some pumpkin soup and some carrot muffins with the S6 carrots from AL*I that I bought yesterday - dinner will be the roast pork dinner we didn't have on Sunday with apple cake for afters, and Thursday dinner will be broccoli and cauliflower cheese with sausages - thats all our meals covered and have plenty of milk so the job is a good 'un!!!!

    Another NSD yesterday and today.

Yesterday my house-mate made turkey mince bolognese with whole-wheat pasta - it was 'okay', but a bit watery despite adding chopped tomatoes and veg to bulk it up. Not the same as using beef mince and definitely not the same without cheese! Going to see what nutritional yeast is like - if any vegans can let me know if it's nice it would be appreciated.

    Had leftovers for lunch.

Just me in this evening, so had a scoot around the cupboards, fridge and freezer. No meat was defrosted (pointless just for me) :( Had no rice and no pasta, but found some lasagne sheets so finished the remains of the box and broke them up to boil (white pasta not allowed on my housemates low cholesterol/overall healthy eating diet apparently). Fried some celery, a handful of soybeans and peas from the freezer and some sweetcorn with garlic, ginger, chopped red chilli, soy and oyster sauce. Mixed all together and although it doesn't sound great, it certainly was inventive and is better than the alternative of going to the chip shop which was tempting me in! :T
