Just totting up my January spends as we've got everything in to last till Thursday and Feb budget starts from Friday

Total spend for the month £174.23 out of a budget of £200 - woo-hoo! £25.77 under budget!

And if I'd left DH at home when I did the top-up shop yesterday it would have been even better. How did some bananas and some milk end up costing £22

Here's to doing even better in February

Declaring all January shopping finished at £153.91 /£175.00, so just a little bit under budget. Not as much as I'd hoped as I'm always a bit nervous in January about getting stuck indoors due to bad weather. I have an ever hungry 8 year old and probably could manage with much less of a store cupboard, but it will all be used eventually.
  • Didn't quite manage the challenge but really pleased I kept any eye on my spending, did ome menu planning and looked out for deals and special offers. I now can see where I went wrong, shopping with no lists, I am so much better getting it delivered, and had 2 takeaways and 1 McDonald's for th kids. Think I will just treat thm to one takeaway next month.

So i went shopping today for 2 weeks of food. I menu planned yesterday and checked out the Ald! Super 6. After work today nipped to Ald! £9.50 of spend. All items on my list apart from a tea loaf. Then after tea, £44 at T@esco. (After a £7 off if you spend over £50 coupon). Which is why I've done 2 weeks of shopping. I stocked up on coffee and hot chocolate too.

2 weeks of food takes me way into February and onto my holiday. Hubby says he will survive on cup a soup and cheese and oatcakes. There's plenty in the freezer if he fancies a change and I'll be adding to it this week.

So I'm declaring at £270 out of £300 and I'm pleased as I really picked the 300 out of thin air. I've made a tighter budget for next month. But except for bread and milk etc, 2 weeks into it, I won't have spent anything. :)

  • did have a grocery delivery Sunday, but only about £12 was for this month in the form of fresh fruit ,veg and some bread the rest was products that were on offer( which run out on the29/01 ) for stocking up my store cupboards for February.

i have gone over budget for jan but not by to much. the total is so much lower than it would have been if i hadnt have done this challenge.

so my total for this month is£142/£120

so £22 over but i would normally spend between 80-120 easily, so well pleased

    roll on feb challenge
