The boys are 13 and 8 (almost 9), and do nothing but eat!
They are quite active, so i dont have any worries about weight, and they eat plenty of fruit, but fruit can be expensive. I got a big box of clementines from Lidl for £2.49 on Friday,so that might help a little this wee, but i normally make about 20 biscuits, 40 mini sausage rolls, and 1 cake, every week.
I dont mind making it, s i enjoy it, but they just eat so much that its costing me so much!
Thanks for the pudding ideas though, i think i might do a monthly shop at asda for those puddings, as they can be quite cheap from there i think
I read something really good on here recently for snacks for children. Get reduced french bread and make into pizzas with HM tomato sauce and grated cheese, and freeze wrapped up in tinfoil. You can then pop them in the oven when the children need a snack. I think this was for older boys who could put it in the oven themselves, but I thought it was great! I have a 10 year old with hollow legs and a husband who is training for a marathon (plus a 6 year old who hates pizza but oh well!) so am planning on trying this one out!Oct grocery budget £368.40 / 6000 -

Went to Aldi and bought some veg, mainly stuff I can put in casseroles and soup (carrots, celery, mushrooms, peppers), potatoes and stuff for sandwiches (ham and cheese) also washing powder. Ran out of milk yesterday so bought a tray of UHT milk - we don't mind it for drinks and it's better than nothing when you run out! Then went next door to poundstretchers to buy some Baxters soups which i take to work for my lunches when I've no home made left and I don't like Heinz soup and not keen on Aldi's.
DH off work at the moment and has said he will go through chest freezer and compile an inventory of the contents and then I can do a meal plan to use the stuff up.Books - the original virtual reality.

Small spend this morning in Mossi$ons £7.99 so now total spent this month is £85.03 out of £200 on track so far for Jan
NSD tomorrow all being well.
I can vouch for the hm french bread pizza's they are lovely and fairly filling. Crumpets are cheap to buy and sultana pancakes are easy to make and the batter mix will stay in the fridge for a day at least so you could make some up then cook when needed. Also make a large portion of pasta salad and keep in the fridge for a snack with some crackers or crsipbreads etc. Make your own bread sticks and have with cream cheese or garlic mayo etc. We often have some cooked salad potatoes in the fridge to grab if hungry, can be easily warmed in microwave if prefered and served with some butter on or tomato sauce etc. Big saucepan full of soup and some crusty rolls are both filling and warming in this cold weather we are having. Sausage rolls are filling and fairly cheap especially the frozen ones likewise vol au vents stuffed with either salad, creamed mushrooms or just grated cheese and onion. May have to do some of those myself now as just remembered how much we like them and have a box of 60 somewhere hidding in the freezer depths.MARCH £62.38/2500 -

Glad to have found this thread. Christmas has left us hanging on a thread with the overdraft limit. Working hard to get it to 0 before the 26th with my money. This now includes doing a fortnightly shop for as little as possible. I am going to write my list up when little one in bed.Christmas 2013- Savings = (0)0
