    Evening all :)

Feeling a bit down today :( think its because i've caught the man flu off my DP, which is just typical being 32 weeks pregnant. Also feeling a bit :( about how much we're spending on food. For week 1 i spent about £50ish for the 2 of us, but so far this week we've already spent the same amount and i haven't finished shopping and the freezer/fridge is bare.

Today was a NSD for me as i didnt pay for the food shopping, but i'll add it to our total as i want to see how much we are actually spending regardless of who paid.

Went to Mr M's after DP finished work. Would have gone alone, but DP took my house key to work so i couldnt leave the house all day and he is always excessive when we go shopping.

Spent £29.61 mostly on essentials that we needed like cereal, snacks for work but have to admit we both got a bit carried away and put things such as biscuits and expensive coffee to 'try'.

Hope everyone has had a good day!

    Suze :)

  • I am feeling a bit disheartened tonight - been putting together my shopping list for tomorrow at MrA (using mysupermarket pricing) and no matter how hard I try and how much I drop off my list it still seems to be really high and that is even after I know that we will be changing the way we eat to get the price even that low. There is virtually nothing on the list that isn't either smart price or shop own brand so there isn't really any room for movement.

The list includes a weeks worth of dry dog food but no cleaning / washing stuff or toiletries as I got loads of them over xmas using MrT vouchers which technically made them free !

I have even gone so far as to buy smaller packages of things rather than buy big and use later as I know that would make me spend more in the long run as it has in the past.

Oh well - I'm sure things will look better in the morning...

  • Some great tips and posts again. I've got a bread maker somewhere so must dig it out again. I'm sure the recipe book has been lost though so has anyone got any basic recipes?

Another €34.06 spend for me, so much for living on what I bought last week...big influx for funeral is to blame for some.

Greenfairy...completely agree with you re jealousy on price of bread flour, sometimes buy the Lidl mixes for €1.49 as you get 2 decent loaves and it is way better than any loaf you can buy for €.75.

m155piggy chin up buttercup!! I actually find MrA quite expensive but I think no matter where you shop everything seems to cost so much. Like you say, I'm sure things will look better in the morning. ;)

Suzexxx and anyone else that's feeling under the weather...get well soon. :)

Have started making shopping lists for the different shops I'll be going to next week and it's totting up the total, love this app :T (apart from having to add everything to it as it doesn't have a database of normal items you might buy).
Saving for Disney again, oops why book one Disney holiday when you can book two!

Chin up Suze :grouphug: You have my sympathies as it's the last thing you need. I'm 26 weeks pregnant and caught the norovirus a few weeks ago so was also feeling rotten. Look after yourself and hopefully you'll feel better soon.

Actually managed a NSD today - was meant to go and pick up some soup and bread for tonight but DH did it on the way home - he got 3 pots of soup and 3 bread rolls. The rolls were reduced to 12p each and he paid for it all out of his own money so nothing off the GC money:):)
