I like my veg quite crunchy so not sure that would work for me - apart from peas and sweetcorn which I do have in the freezer but don't use that much (maybe as I can't see it?!?) * note to self - look in the freezer a bit more
I generally only have peas and sweetcorn in my freezer due to liking my veg al-dente. The only other veg that goes in is chopped onion, chopped peppers, sliced mushrooms and sliced (and blanched) carrots - all of the second lot being home prepared, and often from whoopsie purchases.
I was just looking at the fruit and veg delivered boxes and wondered if people thought they were good Value for Money?
I got one for a while, and it wasn't for us. At the time I was feeding a family of 4, with none of the other 3 being prepared to try new things. Add in the fact they only delivered around here on a Tuesday and I mainly cooked at weekends, and I found myself throwing out over half of every (very expensive) box of organic goodness :o

Hi all, just popping in to report a shop done on Saturday... I was planning on doing it this evening but MIL decided I was taking her to Mr T to get some snacks for that evening, and as we're not that near to Mr T where we are now, I did the weekly shop then instead. Sig updated, and please to report (by some miracle) that next week's shop leaves us £38.90.. we will need to stock up on meat, but that's easily possible and should hopefully have some spare to stock up a bit more or get some treats in :D

I also made pizza dough last week and it was really nice ,and the ready mix bread packets turn out nice and light and make nice toast .have you Tried the spice loaf that is in the book that comes with it ?

I haven't yet, no. I'd be forced to eat the whole thing and I'm trying to lose a bit of weight at the moment :rotfl: I've used a good few of the bread and dough settings, and even made jam in it last summer which turned out beautifully.

I think when next months budget starts on the 20th I'm not only going to keep a record of how much I'm spending. I'm going to keep the receipts and keep a note on how much I've spent on 'treats' i.e naughty things I shouldn't even be buying. You don't really notice the odd pound here and there, but I think when I add it all up I might be surprised at how much 'non' food I've bought. :o

  • First food shop of the new year, and I was quite restrained given I had to do a major re-stock of everything - totaling £27. Unfortunately I didn't have anything in the cupboard for lunch today, so also spend £2.43 for lunch at work.

Next week I'll need a £15 top-up, but do not need anything else before then.
  • Day 7 and had to spend £48 on dentist, but no spends on food at all for the year as yet. Son bobbed in after work, so made him chicken curry (from the freezer) with rice and a pot of fresh coffee. Used the last of my milk on that, so will use evaporated milk on my porridge tomorrow. I have a £10 sainsbob's gift card that I got from Valued Opinions surveys that I'm toying with using. If I don't have the required 500 Nectar points at the weekend for a £2.50 spend on milk & some apples then I might use the card. So technically I still won't be using bank or cash.
