the EU is inclusive and expansive, makes it up as it goes along, found ways of including East Germans and North Cypriots, and uses its flexibilty to sustain and expand membership and is 100% certain to not expel 5 million Scots their fish and oilfields for so much as a nanosecond. :D

Of course it wants new members. That's how ponzi schemes work.

This is so true and yet you'll stick get people debating it. There is almost nothing I wouldn't bet that Scotland would be welcomed into Europe if it goes independent. Anyone saying otherwise is either trying to scare the Scottish or has not idea about how the EU operates.

Without doubt it's part of the anti-independence scare campaign.

Nevertheless I don't think the majority of Scots will be stupid enough to vote for independence ..... but I hope they are.

An intersting take on the Scottish/UK problem ..... regulation without representation

    ....says pro-EU foreign minister.

We know about him. Don't fall for the myth that the EFTA countries have to sign up to everything- that's more scaremongering.

There's loads of advantages to being in EU and less to being in EFTA - but at such less cost that it's seriously worth considering.

Maybe less so for the rUK than for Scotland but....
Also Norway's in the Nordic Union and gets the "Nordic" EU members (Sweden, Denmark, Finland) to keep its influence and intelligence as high as possible.
