Why don't men do Christmas cards?

If someone sends me a card, of course I will send one back out of politeness. I generally don't give cards to people I see every day - unless they give, or usually give, one to me. I think it's a waste of card (think of the trees!).
I send cards to relatives as it's mostly the only contact I have with them.
I send one to my mum and this year will be sending one to my girlfriend too (our first Christmas! lol). I usually spend a bit of time choosing those as those are obviously the most important ones. :-)

I do not send xmas cards and am a man.
I cannot speak for all men, only myself.
I genuinely do not wish anyone a merry xmas. I could not care less what xmas people have, nor whether they wish me one.
Hence I do not send them.
If I were ever to think that I wished someone a merry xmas I would send a card to that person.0 -

now why do you do that? Surely if you didn't think of them to send a card in the first place, they weren't getting a card. So why would you feel you have to send one out of politeness?0 -

Because THEY thought of me to send one. Plus it would just be rude if someone sent me a card and I didn't send one back. A bit like if someone wished me a merry Christmas and I said nothing back.

LOL I thought exactly the same!
I wish everyone a merry Christmas - even the chap that posted he doesn't wish anyone to have one! I hope he still has a good one! :-)

Because its an expensive and pointless scam in most mens eyes.0 -
Why the sexism in the question OP? I am female and think that Christmas cards are a waste of trees, time and money. Most of my friends feel the same. There are far better ways to share the good cheer of Christmas rather than putting your name inside a piece of cardboard with a random picture on and putting in in the post.
I do receive cards but find them more of an irritation than anything. Most are not only unpleasant pictures, but contain nothing more than the shop-printed words and a hand-written name or two - what is the point of that? There are so many ways to keep in touch with the friends that we actually want to be in touch with that we don't need the outdated and outmoded medium of Christmas cards to do it!0 -
I was asking about men because of a post on another thread, and because all the people I know who don't do cards are men. No offence meant, curmudgeonly non-festive females also welcome on this thread.

Ha! How spooky! My hubby, who is the most easy going bloke ever, has just asked me "when are YOU going to write out the Xmas cards and get them sent out?" When I replied "I'm not. It's a waste of time and money" he was not happy and snapped back "well everyone sends us one and it's embarrassing when we don't!!" My daughter and I replied, in unison, "YOU do them then!". Now his face is tripping him.
His excuse for not doing them himself is "you're a neater writer than me" which was actually going to be my opening response to this thread but I thought that was a bit sexist....... but it's true! Every man I know has terrible handwriting and worse spelling.0
