Why don't men do Christmas cards?

Inspired by a post in another thread, and by my OH, I wondered why you men tend not to do Christmas cards/e-cards/emails specifically saying Merry Christmas or similar sentiment?
I love giving and receving cards, and can't entirely see the point of Christmas if you simply make it all about your direct family and ignore your friends.
So if you don't do Christmas cards, which includes e-cards and emails specifically saying Merry Christmas or similar sentiment, why not?

I am a female, but tbh, I only do the bare minimum. Cards to family, close friends and DS does for school. I don't do any more as it's far too expensive, not so much for the cards themselves, but the posting part!
Of course men may have other excuses such as 1. the OH does it. 2. what, oh yeah, um, what? and so on.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Waste of money - just like most of the other things associated with Christmas. Would you like someone less if they didn't send you a Christmas card?! I certainly wouldn't and anyone that does is pretty shallow really!0

I don;t like them less, I just find it a bit hurtful that they don;t even care enough about me to send me a small card to celebrate Christmas.
For me, cards are a physical demonstration of the fact that I've thought about someone, and loved them enough to send them a message on a card.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

I do send cards ... but mostly so that people think I'm nice! TBH I don't like spending money on anything that ends up in the bin/recycling.
And I think they look a bit messy in my nicely decorated lounge .. so not too bothered receiving them in that sense.I seldom end up where I wanted to go, but almost always end up where I need to be0 -
I remember i did once send a card, a lot of thought went into that. If they're so thoughtless that they never kept it to put again surely that isn't my fault.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

So send each other an email for free! Why does it have to be a physical item? If someone is hurt because I don't send them a christmas card then I'm not sure I want to have that person as a friend to be honest!! Too needy for my liking! I don't deal with needy people too well so tend to avoid them! Its the main reason I rarely use Facebook.skintchick wrote: »I don;t like them less, I just find it a bit hurtful that they don;t even care enough about me to send me a small card to celebrate Christmas.

I just don't get it... but then I don't get a lot of things women do!!0 -
Back on topic..... the men in my life do Christmas cards. I do my friends & family & OH does his. When we first got together he did tentatively suggest that I take on his too (along with pressie buying), but he limped away from that argument

In all honesty, I was tempted not to bother this year. Then I thought of all my extended family that I wouldn't otherwise have any contact with, and I changed my mind. I'm a bit mercenary about it anyway, I keep a log each year of who I send to and who I receive from. If more that 2 years go by where someone I've sent to doesn't send one back, then I strike them off. Somehow my list never gets any shorter though...£2 Savers Club 2016 #21 £14/£250

I send a lot of emails at Christmas, usually enclosing a general newsletter, a few pictures and then a couple of personal paragraphs. I'll also add anything that I think might interest the recipent particularly, like a link to a cat cartoon for my cousin or a pattern for something or a joke site etc. It does take a bit of time to write thirty or forty emails even if 2/3rds of the content is cut and pasted so |I'm putting in the effort, just not spending money on cards and stamps. Doesn't that count?Val.0

I''m female and don't do Christmas cards. I really don't see the point in them, they annoy me as they clutter up the place and and are a waste of money! It's bad enough that I have to buy them for the kids for school without sending/receiving them from family/friends so I usually chuck them in the recycling bin as soon as I can.
I am happy to do birthday cards and put more thought into that, but not Christmas ones! Bah humbug!0
