Morning both, today we are going to have a good day because we want to
well that's the mantra from the bloke I called the other day at NP0wer. I'm going to make that banana & custard tart I promised to make yesterday, had to let the butter out of the fridge yesterday and didn't want it to be really cold when I made the pastry.
It's the day before payday and all through the house, cats are running around like maniacs and I'm checking what is due to come into my account tomorrow. Looks like all the overtime I didn't put in on time is being paid this month, that's a whopping extra £1000So this month, if I'm a very good girl, I can put aside £1500 to savings and then buy OH the watch I want to get him which costs £450. He doesn't know how much it costs, but it's a joint xmas & new Daddy present so I want to make it extra special. It's all singing and all dancing, suited for running, cycling & swimming so triathalons which he wants to start training for apparently.
As for the family thing, meh they can get on with it. I am afterall growing a baby so I'm far too busy to get too involved with silly little games
Can't believe I have an extra £1000 coming in tomorrow though, that's awesomeOoh and 5 weeks left of work, and that means 5 weeks until our absolutely fabulous weekend spa break, 9 weeks until Christmas and 10-12 weeks until baby
See we ARE going to have a good day today. The cats won't know what's hit them.

Well I managed it
I had a most excellent day and it's not over yet. I've sold some more bits on fleabay, which has taken my total saved to over £2000
OH and I cooked a delicious pasta bake this evening with bits leftover in the fridge. We grated the courgette which I'd never thought to do before, I love my food processor! Chucked in some buffalo mozzarella and cheddar in as well, was scrummy and we probably have about 9 portions so we'll pot up and put that in the freezer
We've also stuck to our food budget this month and the amount of food we're wasting is really reducing. I tend to go food shopping the first two weeks of the month now, and then we have to use up whatever else is left. This has led to a few lazy days where I'm too tired to cook, but when I have the energy I make some lovely things for us.
Today I had energy, so we've got a yummy homemade banana & custard tart that's cooling on the side. We're going to have it in a minute when it's cooled and set, I cannot wait as it's one of my favourite puddings mmm. Two bananas, a carton of custard, flour & sugar from the cupboard, a bit of jam and some butter mmmmmm.
Hope you've all had good days, I'm off to tidy up the accounts before we pay into them tomorrow xxDiary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Morning all
My new mixer has arrived with matching kettle and toaster, although I'm being very good and not opening it as it's a present from OH to me for Christmas. Although he might want to look at it later when he gets home to see what his money has paid for.
I got paid a whopping £1200 extra in overtime this month, backlog from not putting my timecards in on time since August so the whole of August, September & October were included. However, I think had it arrived in the correct month I would probably have blown it all so the timing is perfect.
I've shoved £1000 into my savings and put £1000 aside for further savings, although I know the second amount will have to be dipped into for a few things I'm determined to save as much as I can.
I've joined Kat's monthly no spending challenge and hoping I'll be able to do my best, it's a toughie so not sure I'll manage it completely but I can try and that's all that counts.
Another 2 sales on fleabay last night and another this morning, so I'll be taking a trip to the postbox a bit later. It'll get me out the house at least as my meeting for today was cancelled so I didn't need to go to the office hurray!!!
Have made a google docs spreadsheet and sent it to OH with all our finances on so he can stop moaning at me about them. He seems to think he's being hard done by because we're paying an extra £150 into our joint account each until my maternity pay drops, but tbh I paid for him when he was a student so he can do his fair share. Plus it's better to do this now so he doesn't have to increase the amount he pays in, than hear him moaning when I can't do anything about itDiary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Wow that's fantastic, well done kerri!
The pasta bake sounds gorgeous, I don't eat courgete enough and yet I really like it, it is nice roasted alongside other veg when we have Roasted veg and couscous.
Hope you have an equally good day today.

Thank you Chrysalis, I've found your diary and just need to find the time to catch up on it now :)We're going to a friends 30th birthday tomorrow and afternoon tea for it on Saturday, so I've decided I'm going to make her some yummy birthday treats. I've popped to the shops and bought ingredients for some homemade chocolate truffles, some chocolate fridge cake, and some coconut ice. I've only ever made fridge cake before, so the other two will be interesting to trial.
I've also just got the propagation whatsit out of the shed so I can sew the seeds for the kits from my sisters gift she rejected. There seem to be quite a few seeds, and seeing how I have lots of the little disk thingys I might grow them and give them to people for Christmas in their hampers. If the chocolates are any good they can have some of those tooOoh have also bought some blackboard paint and blackboard pens so I can paint the pots and write on them what they are. I thought the pen would last a little longer than chalk and make the present nicer, as can paint a nice square using masking tape to make it all pretty then tie with a ribbon to finish.
Right, off to cook and sew...best wash hands in betweenDiary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

All sounding very exciting and yummy. Can you post the recipes?

Well the mixer is still sat there, unpacked, so is the toaster and the kettle. OH came home after frequenting the pub for a leaving do last night, he told me on the phone he'd had 1 and a half, he'd had 3!!! No idea why he lied, I didn't care. The only time I cared was when I went to bed and the entire bedroom stank of booze, I collected my pillow and slept on the sofa. I appear to only sleep properly now when on the sofa as had a really good nights sleep last night! Hmmm...hurry up spare bed arriving.
I'll post the recipes up when I've got a few minutes, they're out of a book so will type them out. Have tried the chocolate fridge cake and oh my word it's delicious for something I just made up. Although it hasn't set properly but pfft it's sticky, it has morello cherries, it's scrummy yum yum yum. The coconut ice has also not set properly grrr, I'm going to have to transfer it to cake cases I think. I have some mini ones somewhere so will use those. Truffles were a two part job so I need to get on and finish making those this afternoon, not convince that they'll set in time but we shall see won't we.
Did I confess to upgrading my phone so I can send OH photos of the baby? New contract is now £27 per month, no bolt ons so I'm no longer paying £7+ for my parents, sister & her OH to call each other, send pictures to each other & text for free. I've been paying this for a few years now and haven't had a good excuse before. Now I can just say they forgot to put it on and actually I'm going on mat leave so it's too expensive for me to do it now.
Have done the money shuffle and everything is looking really healthy. We have over £600 in the joint savings account, all bills are due out on Monday leaving us over £300 for food and whtever else this month. I have £200 left in my current account after my spends and phone bill have come out. My savings have over £4000 in, and I've transferred to my regular saver on time, oh and I actually don't want to buy anything. It's weird when it's YOUR money you're spending you are more reluctant to spend it.
What else...ooh I received some interest payments from two of the P2P loans today. I received 64p for my £200 I invested. I know it's not a huge amount of money, but it's more than the banks are offering and I still get the £200 back at the endWill toddle off to update my signature in a second, will still deduct the additional £1000 as that's OH's watch and then emergency money which I might use to fix that dent in my car.
Off to make some truffles, ttfn xDiary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:
