  • Whether he can be sanctioned or not (and yeah I hope he isn't), it doesn't say a lot when someone hands over their every penny to family members and can't get £5 when they need it. Also when someone can't ask friends, family, relatives, people they volunteered with for 12 months for £1 each.

Sad state of community and values when this happens.

I know it's not just me (as others said) but if local we'd happily have taken them for free - even as a stranger. When family and friends can't do the same, you wonder about how society is.

£5 is a lot for the OP it seems, but it isn't for many and when people can't help when the chips are down, with guaranteed payment the next day (when handed in bus fare proof to JC+) you have to wonder where society is going.

You sold your engagement ring? Even though you could buy it back if I was your other half I'd be pretty damn angry and even still if you discussed it with them I'd still be angry.
    .

Pawning is not selling and we did it. Needs must.

Exactly, I know what I would do next time those friends/family asked me for a favor, I would think back to when they wouldn't lend me £1 for a day and tell them where to go. Especially as it sounds like OP commendably was doing the majority of care for his late Grand Mother thus meaning the rest of the family didn't have to do so much.

It's not nice realising that your friends/family don't really give a stuff about you but alot of us have had to come to said realisation!

Now I rely solely on public transport as I don't have a license of any kind I've never felt I've needed one yet atleast, now the cost of the trip to where they expect me to go is £2.50 there and then ANOTHER £2.50 back which totals £5, that might not be a lot of money but in the end in my situation it is.

I haven't been paid once at all since leaving Carers alowance and I have no money at all literally NOTHING .................

..................the interview I "have" to go to is THIS Wednesday, my first payment is "expected" as someone said to be on Thursday .............................

    ..:(

Rainlight how did you go on with the interview due yesterday? did you manager to re-organise?

I wish I had seen / read this thread earlier..... I would have sent you £5

I know exactly how it feels to not have a penny. Not a penny.

Wish you all the best luck in the world.
  • Rainlight had money but his family took it all from him to pay for his late Grandmothers debts. Unless his late Grandmother owed the money to some dodgy geezers and they were hammering on the door no way should they have taken his benefit money.
  • I'm still yet to hear if I'm being sanctioned yet which is odd by now they'd mail me usually through post wouldn't they?

And I'm sorry Zoom but you just sound like a teenager with a bad attitude and you've got no right to comment on a subject you clearly know nothing about so you may give up insulting me, if you really think I'm going to sit outside somewhere doing nothing to get money you're mistaken, I would never do something like that I'd feel degraded and even if I did i would atleast do something instead of just sitting there with a sign.

Oh an seriously someone expects me to borrow the fair from JCP to go to a cash converter? You have any idea how embarrassing and stupid that is, and be realistic instead of trying to insult me, the JCP would never give someone money for that even if I had something to sell and told them it was to get my bus Fair for the interview they still wouldn't do it, if they don't give you bus fairs without proof of receipt that you already paid for a bus fair what makes you think they'd give me a fair for going to Cash Converters? Actually think before you speak.

People can continue to say i am just another lazy Job Seeker or continue insulting my family, but since I last posted I've been to 4 job interviews within my local area in my desired career choice right now, so yeah continue to say what you like about me but atleast I'm putting the effort in to do something to change my situation, the negative people in here can't even be bothered to change their attitude to be more positive towards others.

I'm keeping this open obviously for when I see my adviser next week so I can let people know how it goes and what happens incase I'm in need of more help.

By the way incase anyone is wondering I know someone who went on this Job got taken on and was laid off after a week because of the high volume of immigrants they had coming in to work for them, the guy is a hard worker to the core and he's been training himself for the forces, it's to be expected heard too much about these Temp Warehouse positions being bad things and it's just another example of why you shouldn't always take everything you can whether you can get to it or not so maybe me not having the £5 was a blessing in the end.

Nothing wrong with Warehouse temp positions ( no need to tar all temp warehouse jobs with the same brush), theres peple all over who do fill the jobs and dont get laid off. I know someone who is working in a warehouse albeit as a temp nad has been there for at least 2 months now but maybe 3.

Who has insulted your family ?

You did make the situation harder by giving your family what money you had.

Can't help but think that your inability to find the required £5 had something to do with your unwillingness to do that job and that you would have been much more creative had it been your dream job.

In any case, I hope you get a job from the interviews you went to and the entire matter will become irrelevant.

This is discrimination and your friend should seek advice about making a claim for illegal dismissal. Be careful about making such claims yourself though as you have mentioned the name of the employer in this thread and they could be annoyed, quite rightly, if the dismissal was for another reason or just malicious and untrue gossip.
