I would love to join please!! I joined this website aaaaages ago, then lurked from time to time but I was so excited by this thread I just had to post for the first time!! (Had to reset my password and everything
)
I am 31, married with a baby boy and have approx £45K of debt :eek: This has been coming down slowly but I worked out my DFD as sometime in 2018, and I need to get my !!! in gear as that is simply too long. So....... December 2015 sounds just perfect!!
I will get my numbers in order before the new year, work out how to update my signature etc and crack on :j I may need to calm down on the smilies tho..........
Thanks so much for the inspiration, this may just improve my life a little bit xxx
Woo hoo welcome aboard!
I love the smilies :rotfl::j:beer::T:)
I need to start using them more actually my posts are very boring without them haha

My DFD at the moment is November 2016,however due to a nightmare of a couple of months with car problems and Christmas it will be December 2016 as I am not going to be able to pay my monthly amount of £330 to cccs (or whatever they are called now):(
I have been on my dmp now for 6 years and its really getting me down never having any money. I am determined to sort myself out in 2013 and would love to get my DFD date forward to 2015 as the family (who haven't a clue about my debts) want to go on a special holiday to celebrate my dads birthday in May 2016 and I would like to be clear and have money saved up by then.
My plan is to carry on paying my £330 a month and any extra I can save/make I will put aside to pay off one of the debts when I have enough to make a final offer.
I am also desperately hoping to move as I hate where I live and its depressing me lots along with needing to lose a hell of a lot of weight.
Sorry for the long post, I will keep on the straight and narrow now and I am off to subscribe to this thread£23366/ £39206.92 DFD Nov 20160 -

Thats a good idea about keeping the extra aside then making a F&F offer.
I think I will do this with my loan cos I might be able to save a wee bit on interest if I do that.
I'm also needing to lose loads of weight aswell, I am gonna go back to WW in the new year.
Welcome to the gang!

Cool, sounds like a plan. I want to lose 2.5 - 3 stone this year, so will get started then. Planning on following a sort of SW/WW combo, basically cutting out all the rubbish!
Debt wise, I'm being very good this week and have avoided the sales completely, deleted my N*xt VIP invitation and have not been to town at all.Long haul supporter #290POAYDBX2014 #043LBM Dec 2011 Debt £51K Debt Nov 2014 £42K0 -

It's hard, isn't it, if your extended family don't know about your debts? We have huge debts and our extended family (parents, aunts and uncles and so on) don't know. On the surface we have a very good income as we both work full time in professional occupations, however our debt takes up well over a third of our take home pay. Without the debt, we'd be very comfortable (it was racked up before I went back to work, when I was at home with the kids, bored, depressed and spent all day buying stuff online) and they don't seem to understand why we struggle when, for example, the heating packs up, telly goes on the blink and so on. That's why I like this place, I can be honest about our circumstances without getting judged.

I love it here for the same reason - people just dont understand!!!
I spoke to my friend about this the other day & she just looked at me like I had horns LOL
She is quite happy to always just pay the minimum balance on everything.
I said we are going to be paying out x each month so I cant really afford to do much this month & she was like I really dont get it I mean most people are going to be in debt their whole lives anyway so just dont pay it!
Well I want to be debt free & I want my money to be mine & no one elses

I'm quite lucky I do get sick pay but my work give you hell for being off!!!
I have been off 1 time for 3 days this whole year & they where trying to take me to a disciplinary hearing which meant that I would not be eligible for a bonus for 12 months. I was fuming but managed to get them to change their minds about it.

i had that same problem the same day starting a new job i went sick with a serve kidney infection which took 2 weeks to clear enough for me to return to work at first the doc was quite concerned as i had blood poisoning . although i called in a spoke to the bosses each day and i also followed their sick procedures they still wanted to give me a verbal warning which i disputed and won only just. the job only lasted 2 months before the made me redundant.debt free as of 1/10/2014 and loving it :j
