Happy Monday everyone!! Well done everyone on the weight loss!! :j:j What a fab start to the year :T

Although I'm not joining on the weight loss challenge, my aim is to stay fit and healthy so with that in mind I've banked a 3 mile walk pushing the pram today (to a singing class and back), and where I live is very so I'm feeling all rosy and virtuous :A

Off to do some surveys while the boy is napping....

  • Hey everyone - well done on the weight losses, that's fab! Also some serious debt busting going on which is also great.

I'm a big fed up if I'm honest. I had a bad night last night with the diet, since stopping smoking I've told my brain I need something sweet in the evenings and this is knocking all my good work out the window. I took my lunch to work today but ended up spending £4.50 in the canteen on a baked potato as I wanted stodge (its been snowing here) and a diet coke and my knee has just gone off. I know tomorrow is a new day but I feel really miserable tonight and just needed to rant! Also feel like we have such a mountain to climb with our debt and it's going to take so long. I know you understand how I feel because we are relatively long-haulers. I'm sure I'll be feeling better tomorrow.
    Thanks for reading. NYD x

  • Och honestly dont feel bad about it - I finally started on my diet yesterday was sooooooooooo good until 8pm then I went for a curry!!!!

Today I have been eating like food is not going to exist anymore.

I have spent £10.00 today on complete rubbish & it has annoyed me more on the fact of the amount of money I have spent tbh!!!

  • Hi Folks - I stayed the same : ( but I guess it's better than a gain! My head is back in the game, I'm going for a 1lbs loss next week!!!

Debt busting is going ok but I've only had 1 NSD this month - my spending diary is very very interesting though!!!

    Hope your all well.

  • Hi there,

Would you mind if I joined you on this thread
I am 33, married and living in a little rural idyll in Ireland!

When I first read the title of the the thread, I thought 'No, I will be debt-free in 2014... that isn't the right thread for me' , but upon reflection I think 2015 is more realistic.

My snowball calculator says my debt-free day is August 2015.
I think I can do better than that, but I have to bear in mind that we are very close to finishing building our house and we will have lots of expenses and I will want to buy nice furniture and bits and pieces for the house, so I know I will not be as diligent by the time next winter comes around.

Both my car and DH's van are ancient and giving us trouble on and off, so it is very likely we are both going to need to replace these.
And we are hoping to have a baby before or during 2014 (after two early miscarriages in the last six months :() and we all know that babies cost money too!
We also have a racehorse (nobody is judging, are they?!!) so although I bought him for €200 to save him from going to the factory as a wee baby three-year-old he is costing a lot of money to have in training and to run.

So I suppose 2015 is very realistic for my goals! I need to pay off at least half of my debt in 2013, as we have not been able to secure a mortgage (€75,000 needed to finish it to the last - walls, driveway, landscaping etc) to finish our house, and my debt is cited as the reason why my bank won't lend to us. This has been majorly frustrating and the huge kick I needed to actually face up to my debts.
I have paid off a lot since the summer, and hope to keep up the momentum.

Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Ps: I am also on a new slimming/exercising plan of my own making and hoping to lose 25 lbs in 2013. Can I join the weight-loss challenge too, please? I have lose 3 lbs so far. :)

  • Welcome to the thread my dear - we are happy to have you.

I think the good thing about us all is that we are having realistic goals.

2015 is not a million miles away & it will be here before we know it.

  • Although I am not posting much, I am enjoying reading everyone's posts! I just don't have much to report, my life is v dull really! And I don't feel that we have achieved anything this month as we are contending with recovering from our wedding day last month, as well as the usual miserable long wait between December and January paydays! It is pants as I hoped to pay a few things off this month, sigh

Thanks for the welcome Dolly! :A
I get paid fortnightly, and was just paid on Thursday. Apart from the regular (low) repayments I have to make on my debts I don't think I will manage to pay off much extra this fortnight.
I'm hoping to reduce my OD by another €25. It isn't costing me as much as my other debts but I feel like it is the one within the closest reach. I would love to just clear it entirely. When I say 'pay' a bit off I mean that I reduce the OD limit, so I have budgetted to get by on less that fortnight and can stay within the OD allowance.

I have had this facility since forever, and I wonder if I got rid of it altogether would I get stuck and really miss it?
Do you think it is a good idea to aim to get rid of the OD altogether? Or should I just try to get it down to €100 or €150.

On the weight-loss front: I am down 2.5 lbs this week! :j
So delighted with this! I have been using the MyFitnessPal free app and it has really helped me realise just how many calories I was consuming before....So that brings my weight loss to 5.5 lbs!!! :j:j
