The OP didn't shop online though. They reserved a product. Totally different. If they wanted it at that price, they should have paid for it then.
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

I presume the OP reserved it online and was sent a reservation number.

I reserved a vacuum cleaner, and when I collected it the next day I found the price had gone up £15. At the time I was a bit addled (worrying how I was going to get it home!) and couldn't quite remember what price I had reserved it at, although the price charged didn't ring a bell.

Anyway the next day I took in a print-off of my order confirmation email, together with my receipt, and they refunded me the difference without a problem. They did say the promotion offer had just ended, but when I looked online later it was still showing the lower price.

I'd have thought the email confirmation would be proof that that's the price you expected to pay. Seems a bit underhand to then increase it overnight without any warning.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

  • Argos are well known for this as are B&Q although B&Q stock reservation is diabolical. They can do this but does mean you have to accept it, unless you really wanted it I tell them no thanks and go else where 9/10 most of there goods are cheaper else where anyway

No doubt. But that's still not shopping. Going back to the question I hate, Had the item been reduced overnight rather than increased, would anyone be happy paying the higher price?

Argos say different. They say " ‘We believe there is a better way to shop online, Argos it".

Whenever I've reserved an item at argos whether by phone, text or online. it's always been made explicitly clear that they priced you pay is the price instore when you pick it up.

I did not say that the OP had shopped online I'm not sure why you even thought I had said that.
What I did say was that by reserving the product online Argos then had a way of contacting the OP to inform them of the large price rise.

reserving <> shopping. You don't need more than one brain cell to realise that. There was no offer made, no contract formed, no monies paid, no nothing. All that Argos have done is graciously reserved an item, meaning that no one else could buy it.

This is standard with most retailers who have a 'reserve and collect' or 'deliver your shopping' service. All of the supermarkets do it.

This has been Argos policy since they first had a website. It's not something new.
