I'm really sorry about your FIL Pilchard, it must be so hard for all of you, especially so soon after your dad. Sending huge hugs and love your way. Next time you're struggling we're all there in spirit holding your hand xDebt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Afternoon everyone, just catching up with posts.....and piccies of Grace (who is very cute, by the way :happyhear).
Not a positive post for me as I am going to fail the de-junk challenge straight away. This time last year my dad was seriously ill with lung cancer and died on March 10th. Yesterday we found out that my father in law has cancer in his pancreas and liver and it can't be treated so we're all reeling from the shock. Obviously the priority has to be looking after him and my step mother in law and supporting my husband rather than trying to achieve challenges. I am going to try and work and not give up completely, though.
On top of that the tax man is saying I owe them £1130 despite the fact I am PAYE and I questionned my tax code last year saying it wasn't right and they told me it was. When I pointed this out to them they have no record of the phone call and say they need more proof!! I don't know about anyone on here but I'd quite like their job - !!!! up but then blame someone else when you don't do your job properly!!
Sorry for moaning, but hope everyone is having a productive January.....and I hope you start to feel better soon Dinah. You have been through so much in the last year so be proud of what you have achieved so far :T

Thanks for all the good wishes, it means a lot. I think I was at a really low point yesterday with everything and the tax man made it worse
I have picked myself up today, though, and decided that despite everything I am not going to give up trying to achieve something for us this year. To that end I have just sorted out opening a savings account with Virgin to put bits of loose change in so it doesn't get sucked up in the credit card/overdrawal vortex
On my days off I am going to write to the tax man again and send copies of all my payslips and try to explain to them that they can't have it both ways - I can't be on the right tax code but owe tax, that's a contradiction!! I fully accept that they will be their usual charming selves and say that I still have to pay it but I will get my point across (with a pitchfork if I had the choice!).
I am also going to keep trying to de-junk but will take it down a bit from10/day and see where I get.
Yes, life sucks at the moment but a lot of that is due to things I have no control over so I'm going to work at changing the things I do have control over. :TLet's start again (really need a kick up the bum now) :wall:Virgin CC £9793.710 -
I am thinking of you Pilchard. We were in a similar situation last year with FIL. We all went on a holiday together to celebrate his last new year. It was a fab time iykwim, and we have memories that will last a lift time.Total debt Feb 2012 = £54354.11 😳

(((((((HUGE hugs Pilchard))))))))) So sorry to hear that news, especially after all you've been thought lately.
I hope the tax man backs off - good on your for taking the fight to them!:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
Really sorry to hear that Pilchard. xx
Hope you manage to sort things out with the tax too, what a nightmare.0 -
Really sorry to hear your news Pilchard, will be thinking of you and your family xxx
Flower - i'm the opposite, don't think i could be a sahm. Is funny as i always thought i would but i actually enjoy going to work.
I think if I was in a job I enjoyed I would quite like being back at least part time. But at the minute its hell to be honest.
As it is not worth me putting him in childcare I am only supposed to work a couple of afternoons a week (what was agreed when I chose to return to work), I am on a lower contract and we juggle childcare between us and very kind grandparents. However my manager will think nothing of ringing me everyday asking me to go in.
This week she wants me to work 38 hours, what she expects me to do with Noah I dont know!Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -

Surely if your contract is only to do the couple of afternoons a week then you can just say no?
Have you tried explaining the situation to her? This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.:j:j:j:j0 -
So sorry to hear about your FIL, Pilchard. You sound amazingly positive considering in your second post though
At least you have a couple things like getting angry at the tax man to release some agression! But I completely ditto what Dinah said, we're all here for you if you need us x
It's unfair of them to ask you to do extra hours all the time, Flower! Would it be possible for you to get a new job, or are they pretty hard to come by in your town? Hope you said no to the over time, that's a crazy amount of hours to ask you to do considering you have a little one and a OH working full time! Unless they mean for you to walk around with Noah tethered to you all day
5 things done over the weekend (namely Saturday) not as much as I could have done I know. I did re-start my blogging mind, and I kept on top of my junk emails. Had to keep a super close eye on Ryder all of yesterday so that's why I didn't get anything done. Poor bug's paw was all swollen from his stitches0
