Hi Beccie!!
Good going with the books Birdie! Only thing I decluttered yesterday was the tights I'd been wearing - decluttered into the bin, I'd been hoicking them up all day!
I went for my first running club run last night, ran 4 miles in total, into the next town and back - something I NEVER thought I'd do. And it was quite hilly too so a good workout. Not too stiff today but my ankle is aching a bit, think I need to get some new running shoes - the ones I took a risk on and bought online give me pains in my calves. Wah!
I think I'm going to stick with the £20 a week with the aim of getting to £1000 by mid-December. My worry with doing it the original way is that I'd get to a point somewhere in the middle where it was becoming too expensive and have to give up, and then only have a tiny pot of money because all I'd put in is the smaller amounts.
Ugh Flower that sounds awful, you shouldn't feel guilty about not doing overtime - your manager should feel guilty for not employing enough staff! Glad they seem to be listening though, hope they keep it up!
On another workymoan note - you know I moved offices and am being paid mileage for the extra travel? Well we had a note from HR yesterday saying that we now have to claim this mileage in a different way to normal work mileage (ie if I go to Newcastle for a conference or whatever) and that this mileage is now taxable! So instead of getting 40p a mile it'll be 32p a mile - a difference of £9.20 a week for me. Pee'd off is not the word and I said so in no uncertain terms to my manager (who was on the phone to HR saying, "but what about my mileage between Office A and Office B - that's not taxable is it?" (it's not) - I don't know if I mentioned this on here or my thread or at all, but she does have to go back to Office A for meetings etc a couple of times a week but never EVER has she come to work at Office B (here), gone to Office A for a meeting, come back to Office B and then gone home, she would always stay at Office A and hot desk (or so she tells us, she's probably telling them at Office A that she's coming back to Office B and is actually going home! - and yet she's claiming mileage between the two offices - I don't know how often, but it'll be a nice little boost for her) Anyway, that's an aside - I don't know what I can do about that other than dob her in, but I'm certainly going to look at the legalities of what they're doing with the tax thing. SO sick of this place and the way I'm being treated, if I don't get a place on a PGCE I think I'm going to have to leave and just temp somewhere, it's the only light at the end of the tunnel at the mo. Sorry for the rant

Oh Tete that sucks! What's the point of taxing mileage?! Keep an eye out for a temp job anyway, screw 'em!
As for your boss... surely it's a fire risk if she's not accounted for at either site? Maybe HR would be interested in that 'concern' and make sure that she's clocking in and out at each office as she comes and goes.
Well done on the running though, hope the ankle doesn't bother you too much.Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Awesome decluttering, Birdie! I didn't do anything yesterday apart from go home and sit on the sofa. I was knackered!
Tete, that's rubbish about the tax thing, especially when other people are milking the system. Also, I'm pretty sure you should be getting 45p per mile, so definitely check you are getting the right amount.LBM Sep 2008 debt: £27,927.04start weight: 140.2, week 2: 1380 -
Hope you are feeling a bit better today Birdie.
Tete - that definately doesn't sound fair with the petrol thing. If they told you one thing doesn't seem right they can suddenly change it.0 -
Really sorry to hear your news Pilchard, especially after all you've been through. Good luck getting things sorted with the taxman too.Tete_en_l'Air wrote: »Ruby, maybe you had something in your eye at one point and scratched the surface of your eye with it so now it still feels sore even though there's nothing there?
Maybe worth making an optician appt, you can always cancel it if it gets better.
I had exactly this a few years ago, hope you're better today or that you have taken yourself to the opticians pronto! I went to our local minor injuries unit with mine (First Aider at work packed me off there although I resisted, am v squeamish when it comes to eyes!) not sure if you have anything similar near you?
I have joined the weekly saving challenge too, am also thinking that extra moneymaking will be required at the end of the year and also not sure if the wedding will scupper my plans, but hopefully will manage it. I'm also decluttering along with you all, although I'm now thinking 10 a day might be optimistic as I got rid of a lot of stuff last time we moved. Might have to think outside the box to keep up. Inspired by Birdie, was thinking about counting getting my 5 a day as one thing, as I've become a bit rubbish with that recently. As we're waiting to move our food shopping has been a bit all over the place. (Still no date by the way.) But so far have cleared out my make up, toiletries, nail varnish, handbag, purse, inbox, recycled 7 pairs of shoes and took 10 magazines to the hospital waiting room yesterday.
And finally... had my follow up appointment yesterday and found out that all my test results have come back clear. There is a small risk of recurrence and I will obviously be monitored very carefully in the future, but it is obviously a massive relief. Thank you all so much for your support and good wishes, it has meant more than I can tell you. Not sure how they are going to look with the dress but will try out this weekend when i'm at my mums.
Also am helping my sister plan my hen do and we are going to brighton in may. Her friend who owns the craft place said we can do print bags for £15 a head and they will provide the tea if we bring wine and cakes etc so that is looking good!0 -

Thanks ladies
I love those shoes Wendz - and what a bargain! No updates from me, mainly because I have been slacking
but I am on a mission to get some things booked this week!
Tete - I meant to say that is very poor about your work taxing you, I can only think that it's something they have been advised to do by their accountants if they think HMRC might not like it, there's no real benefit to them in taxing you I don't think. (Not sticking up for them BTW, they should have checked that out before agreeing it in the first place). Also, I think 45p is the maximum HMRC will allow to be paid tax free, not the minimum which I think is 25p (or it used to be when I dealt with it, which was a while ago so apologies if my info is out of date).
Just had a call from our Estate Agents to say hopefully the outstanding paperwork should have been received by our solicitors today so fingers crossed I may have a date later on...Barclaycard [STRIKE]£7,296.35[/STRIKE] £6134.99 - MBNA [STRIKE]£4,182.88[/STRIKE] £3267.08 - O/draft [STRIKE]£569.31[/STRIKE] £413.59 - Capital One [STRIKE]£1477.55[/STRIKE] £1451.44Total debt [STRIKE]£12048.54[/STRIKE] £11267.10 6% paid0
