Omg Pilchard that sounds Amazing! Would LOVE to try that, so would OH - may look into it!
Right today I've dropped stuff at Oxfam, posted my music magpie stuff, cleared through my makeup, jewellery, 1 handbag, and the tops of my drawers and bookcase at my parents. Now packaging up ready to head back to reality tomorrow - boo.
Other resolutions
1. Be more organised so I stop being late for work
2. Use my gym membership - at least once a week (hoping to drop some lbs too!)
3. Trudge on with saving for a house deposit - I have a regular saver but want to save an additional £2k in 2 years.
4. Try a new recipe/eat something new in a restaurant/watch a new foodie program once a week. I often feel a bit out of touch at work with my up to date chef/restaurant trends and think this will help
Right better finish sorting my clothes and head to bed - will reply properly to everyone tomorrow x
Saving for a deposit: £11,621.15

While not wanting to discourage anyone from donating to charity, you can now trade in clothes at music magpie. It's not for much, seems to be about £1-£2 per item, but that can add up quite quickly if you have a bin bag full.
Mum took all my books, she's keeping a lot of the cookbooks, and then the rest are going to the school staff room which I'm happy with as they've all been lovely with Grace and very generous. Thank you for the suggestion though alioops, I may yet do that with some of the rest of the attic.
NEED to find the paper parts of our drivers licences this morning before Grace wakes up, and take them to dad to email to our insurers. Can't actually take either of our computers upstairs as mine falls apart (and can't recognise the printer anyway) and NIMs cant hold a charge long enough. New laptop should be here tomorrow and I should be able to get £100 for this one on ebay, and I'm going to sell the Dell tablet which should make another £200. While I wish this was coming off the debt rather than being spent I view a computer as a nessessity.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

You're so right about the computer being a necessity, it's a shame that they seem to pick their time to die though isn't it?! Our's had a fit just before Christmas and we were really worried that it was dying but 'all' it took was a total system restore and some major cleaning up and it's been OK since. One of my jobs to do is go through all the files on there and back up the important stuff and delete the rubbish to free up some memory as I'm scared it'll conk out again.
As for yesterday, not the best of starts as I only managed 4 things, but that's 4 more things than I'd have done without the challenge! :T Cleared out some bathroom drawers of everything that doesn't get used or won't ever get fully used up no matter how nice it looks or expensive it was!A whole carrier bag full of toiletries in the bin! :T Got more to do tonight... it's quite embarrassing seeing how much stuff I own compared to how much I actually use!
Pilchard, that present sounds fab!Let us know how it goes!
Make sure you're taking before and after photos of all your books and general clutter Dinah, you'll be amazed at the difference!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Pilchard what an amazing pressie! You'll have to tell us all about it after you go.
Lovely to hear that everyone had good Christmasses. I hope we all have a fab year in 2013.
I haven't managed to clear anything yet but going to do a list with OH for Freecycle later on:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
Sorry to hear about your Dad Tete.
Annoying about the laptop Dinah, but i agree is a necessary expense.
Didn't manage to do any clearing last night, will have to try harder tonight. I have a lot of paperwork etc i could do with sorting out.
That sheepdog thing sounds fun Pilchard!0 -
Hi all,
Went running last night so no dejunking for me, but have been getting on this morning and doing a few of those 'niggly' things which you put off which aren't that bad. Leaving ebay feedback, checking appointment times to write in diary etc etc - I've also cleared down my personal inbox to one page of 'current' things and unsubscribed to two newsletters in the process - total for today so far: 10 items decluttered. Excited to make a start on my books tonight, want to Amazon trade in as many as possible, the rest will go to the chemo ward.
Pilchard I loved your list of resolutions - some funny mental images there!!
Funny you should mention your toxic friend Birdie - I was just thinking about getting in touch with Flaky Friend - I had meant to send her a Christmas card but wasn't organised enough (!), it's her birthday at the end of the month so thinking of sending a card to clear the air a bit after I ignored her phone call that time last March - I feel like it's hanging over my head a bit as her boyfriend's Mam lives in my street so I sometimes drive past her outside the house - it's really awkward (a small, slow-driving street so she surely sees me!) - or maybe I should let sleeping dogs lie?! Argh!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Tete! I was thinking of your running the other day, you should get your tush to the clinic I work at for a lactate test. My boss is the guy who does it (former team GB runner) and its all about getting you training in the right heart rate zones and I hear nothing but amazing feed back for the people who do it in terms of personal bests. Only downside is it's £100
I'd leave it with your friend though, if she hasn't got in touch again since then what's the point? You don't want to get back in the cycle of canceled plans!
Decided y'all can count me in for the de clutter! Although I'm only going for 100, as I really still have no idea what I'm meant to do. But I'm hoping having it in my mind will be motivation to think of something!
Love the sound of the sheep dog trials, Pilchard! I was on the same thought as you but thinking "wow, she must have super well trained dogs to do that!":p do you have a link to the website (if they even have one?) my Brother would no doubt love it for his OH. (See the progress here? I didn't even say she was mental or evil!)0 -
It's difficult isn't it Tete?! I'd be tempted to leave it. If you drive past her a nice smile and a wave will do, but no need to stop and chat. It's difficult with flaky friends though as they're not necessarily being cruel to you per se, they're just not very thoughtful or organised but when it happens so many times it's hard not to take personally. OH has a female friend who'll text us every 3 months saying 'OMG I miss you so much, let's do lunch!' then when we reply with some dates for her to meet us on she'll ignore us for another 3 months and the cycle starts again!
I've made up my mind to avoid my Toxic Friend as much as possible until she's gone out of my life! She is a nasty piece of work and after having yet another run-in with her over the weekend I realised that at 27 I don't need to put up with being bullied!
Not sure what's happening with our London trip, nothing's booked or paid for yet but another girl said that she didn't want to go if Toxic went, so it's clearly not just me. Going round to a friend's tomorrow night and we were all invited to Toxic's house but I said that I didn't want to go and the others admitted that they felt the same so we changed the venue and she has been told that we 'might' see her in town later on. Which we won't!
Oddly I got an e-mail from a relationship site this morning (think it's an offshoot of a wedding site I used to use and haven't got round to unsubscribing!) and one story was 'How to ID Toxic Friends' with suggestions on who to get rid of and how, clearly the universe is telling me something!
My de-junking tonight will mainly consist of sorting through the rest of my toiletries and putting my new smellies away. OH bought me so many body butters for Christmas I have a feeling that they'll be on the de-junk list this time next year! Maybe one of my resolutions should be to use them all!
Very good progress with your brother's GF Cinny! I take it things have settled down a little?
ETA: Did you watch the NYE RAW?! I only thought of it as AJ's bat-crap craziness reminds me of your bro's GF and Cena's slating of her was brilliant!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Yes maybe I should just leave it - like you say it'll probably only restart the cycle! She must know what a tough time I was having through facebook and only made that one effort to contact me so, yeah... Birdie it sounds as though everyone feels the same as you so you shouldn't have to put up with her much longer with any luck!
Lactate tests.... sounds like something to do with breasts to me! My half-marathon training officially starts next Sunday
Just unsubscribed from another mailing list bringin my running total to 14I could probably reach the dejunking goal on junk emails alone!
Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
I didn't know if I should have counted my major e-mail clear out and mass unsubscribing as one thing or several?! Maybe the clear out should be 1 thing and each newsletter cancelled 1 thing each? In that case a recount is needed as it'd boost 7 things onto the total!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0
