So sorry to hear about your Dad Tete. Big hugs your way xxx
Birdie- have you considered charting? This is a good book and \i defo learnt a lot about my body, like the fact that I ovulate very late (between day 16-19, usually 19) so I could have been trying for ages from day 10-14 and not getting anywhere! Luckily we weren't trying long but I was aware that I was 32 and wanted to get to know the workings of my body. It might be worth a try anyway.
I started off quite well considering I have the flu and feel like c**p! I paid off OH's o/d so that is one debt gone! I have lots of things I need to declutter. I am not sure I will do 10 a day but have an idea on how to weight things depending on how they affect me (for eg, I have 2 baby things I have been trying to get mys sister to take for months, they take up a lot of space and when they are gone will make a huge difference. So they will count as 2!)Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

I totally agree with you about the band-aid analogy NIM (although we're not American so lets call it a plaster, eh?!
) but in my case it feels like every time I rip the blasted thing off someone else comes along and says, 'Ahh, it's not that bad, stick it back on and give it another chance'. At the weekend she did a pretty good job of upsetting her usual defenders though so I thought it was finally over and done with... then one of the other girls went and invited her to our girls's trip to London in March!
Really hope she doesn't come despite saying yes immediately.
Totally agree with going digital for everything Dinah! Much nicer to live with.
Oh and the doctor has just phoned to say I can't be referred to the clinic after all and she's sorry for the mis-information!I can 'look forward' to a referral in October.
ETA: CMD, I've considered (and decided against) charting as it's just not for me. Anyway I know all about the nuances of my body now, things that I never should have to even think about. I kept putting off buying a monitor as it was so expensive, hope it works for me and it's worth it! Oh and if one more friend tells me a) to relax (I'm genuinely not that stressed about it, readers of the TTC thread will know how bad some women can get; I moan about once a month when I know we've failed otherwise we're pretty chilled) or b) to 'just stop trying' I'll scream! I know they mean well, but sometimes a sympathetic pat on the arm is all that's needed!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
He'll be delighted to know he's such an inspiration. Think we could do the same with the MOUNTAIN of bank statements etc we have?
Yes, scan them and save them or just shred them, I don't care, I can't see why we need them!clearmydebts wrote: »Birdie- have you considered charting? Forgot I actually have money news. In the positive we were able to pay the massive £2200 amex bill this month, but unfortunately it has meant we now have a big OD again. So we need to work on clearing that. Which will be slowed somewhat by the fact my laptop died a horrific death last night, after 12+ hours I've finally got it to turn on to get my data off it, but if you use the sound it cuts out, if the power cable comes out it turns off (yesterday it had a battery life of about 3 hours so no idea whats going on there), it doesn't seem to be willing to save anything to the hard drive.... basically it be knacked. This is on top of the fact it hasn't had a working fold and the screen is in several bits meaning you can't move it for the last 6 months. So we're going to need to replace it.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

"If she's going I'm not, I'm done with her."? or have you already paid? If your stuck going, make sure you are an absolute B***h to her the entire time and if anyone asks what your problem is bring out a printed list of EVERYTHING she's done which "wasn't that bad" making a point like that can be very effective. At the very least if the rest of them want to remain friends with you they'll learn not to have the two of you in the same group. If not then you are actually no worse off, if they cant see how much of a problem she is to you then you don't need them in your life either.
As for your doctor *golfclap*.
And technically plaster is also wrong as its a small piece of semi-water resistant stickiness with a bit of a pad in the middle rather than plaster as in a castYes, scan them and save them or just shred them, I don't care, I can't see why we need them!
Erm you are the one who had the file of 3 years worth of bank statements when we met m'dear and told me we need to keep them for 6 years. I'll burn them over the weekend. This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.:j:j:j:j0 -

In fairness I was in the middle of reclaiming bank charges.

I am waiting too!
Sounds like you got some nice presents Lara. Frozen yoghurt sounds yum.
Pilchard - eek at the sorting out finances , hope it isn't too frightening.
Thanks wendz but I'm fairly certain it will be very frightening  As for Christmas presents......bet no-one has one like mine from OH.........a 'One Man and His Dog' sheepdog trial!! Apparently I get trained to round up sheep and was horriefied til I realised that they provide the dog!! I thought he wanted me to take our youngest dog, Mischa, who is demonic!!! I'm looking forward to it but can't see that I'll use the skills much in Selby!Let's start again (really need a kick up the bum now) :wall:Virgin CC £9793.710 -
Right, I've just been catching and up and am ready for this challenge and this year.....I think!
My resolutions this year are to- Get down to my target weight
- Get the finances straight so we are not overdrawn every month and owing on credit cards (we won't get rid of the debt completely but realistically I want to get rid of the overdraft and get down to a manageable limit on one card each)
- Learn to swim properly (I don't think several strokes interwined with loads of doggy paddle and half drowning counts :rotfl:)
- Learn to ride the crappy old bike I have had in the garage since the summer....instead of using trees as a way of stopping!
- Start doing some stuff in the house (It's a 2 year old new build, which is fine but with 3 dogs and a lack of imagination and design flair on my part.....and money, it is starting to look tired)
- Do more walking and interacting with the OH and the dogs
- Be more organised....which is where the dejunk challenge will come in
Tonight, I plan on going to zumba (for the first time in weeks) and then get rid of any half opened christmas food (in the bin, obviously!), take all the decs down and shred a load of paper. That may count as only 3 things done today but I shall ramp it up in the next couple of days (I hope).
Hope everyone had a great New Year :beer:Let's start again (really need a kick up the bum now) :wall:Virgin CC £9793.710 -
Definitely a kindle convert, didn't think I would be but I LOVE it. Now I just need to work out something to do with all the paperbacks, the idea of shifting about a ton of books from my house is really liberating.
Happy New Year everyone
Have you looked into any local cash for clothes places as one near me takes in books at 10p per kilo, a lovely shock of £30 for all of my paperbacks and other books we couldn't get rid of any other way.

Where I want to be on Dec 31st 2013:
Apart from being happy and healthy, and my children and OH to be happy and healthy, I would love us to be debt free and entering into 2014 with the intention of saving for a house deposit, or nearly debt free.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947
