Sounds like you had a very nice birthday Lara.
Have a great time in Paris, it'll be great! I've got a touch of le monstre aux yeux verts.
Ooh Zig, I've just been doing a little extra Googling re: PVA varnishing and there is a warning that over time using the PVA & water method will go yellow and peel/flake as it doesn't have the lasting power of real Mod Podge. So with that in mind, I'd be more inclined to either use Mod Podge or a craft varnish. I used a spray varnish on some frames a few years ago (think I bought it for a couple of quid in Wilkos) and they still look fine (no flaking or yellowing and they've been on a windowsill for 2 years) so that'll probably be a more suitable option.

Thank you so much Birdie!
Does it have to be craft varnish or can it be normal clear gloss varnish you put on wood? Not a clue about any of this sort of thing!
Glad you had a good birthday LaraParis sounds awesome! My OH is going to Milan for a conference in the summer and I'm so jealous!

I'm not too sure TBH, try a little patch test and see what happens! I'm think as long as it's clear and not too thick it'll be fine.Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0

Zig I tried to varnish something with PVA/water recently and it just didn't seem tough enough. I bought normal clear wood varnish from wilkos and it worked perfectly over paper
Happy belated birthday to Lara and Poppy!

Morning everyone
Sorry not doing too well with keeping up at the moment, flying on Tuesday and still so much to do!Debt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0 -
Hi everyone. Sorry for the silence this way a bit lately, I've been having something of an attack of the dark and twisties. Firstly our money situation is not good, debt has increased quite a lot with me not having maternity pay and now NIM not having a job. So it's hit me hard we're back over £10k (and then a chunk).
Secondly, and probably harder is that I went to a fundraiser for the condition Grace may/may not have. The lady was telling me how an increasing number of children aren't presenting with symptoms until they're 18months-4 years, but once the symptoms appear it's the same straight down route and they're gone within 2 weeks. So I restarted contacting doctors for tests and things previously I'd decided against. I'm finding myself very clingy with her, not helped by this coinciding with her moving into the big cot in her own room, I HATE not having her next to me at night, not coming into our bed for cuddles on a morning, but it had to be done as every time she rolled over in the night she was properly clocking her head off the sides of her crib.
Thirdly I'm struggling to adjust to such a big change and so much uncertainty in our life plans. Three months ago we were going to have a second baby next year and I'd be working part time while raising my gorgeous rugrats. Now NIM will be back at uni in 2014 all being well, when or even if we can afford a second child is a very grey area, and I am finding it hard to accept I won't get to even work part time to care for Grace, I'll be trapped in an office while she's elsewhere until 2021 when NIM finishes study, and by then she'll be all grown up and in school. I kind of think the most important years to be home with them is 0-5, and there is just no way of doing that anymore.
Hows everyone doing with Achievement April? I've achieved 3 so far I think, going to take a punt at reaching 5 by the end of the month, but I have begun a few more as well.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Hi Dinah, I have been doing a lot of lurking and not a lot of posting. But just wanted to say sorry to hear that your not feeling great about a lot of things.
You really have been through such a lot over the last year, and you do so amazingly well to keep upbeat. I don't really have any advice, but just wanted to say I am thinking of you and I hope things start improving soon.
How is NIMs job hunting going?
As for Grace, she is a strong little mite! Please dont let what that woman said scare you - I cant believe she even thought it would be ok to say something like that to you! Look how far she has come and what a happy beautiful baby she is
I hope some further tests put your mind at ease.

Thanks Flower :grouphug:
He's been offered a job but it's only 22 hours a week, just waiting on the CRB to come back before he can start that. He's through to the second stage interview of another job, this one is full time doing learning disabilities care instead of elderly care, still only over 4 days so hopefully he could do some bank care as well another day or two a week until the debt is cleared and we have some savings.
The other lady lost her first baby to the condition so I don't feel like I can really complain about fearing to loose her when she's actually been through that hell
A little positive ray is that we bought some seeds and a few plug plants to start growing our own veggies this week, so hopefully will save a bit of money there, although neither of us have a green finger between us, and we're planning to grow them in pots on a concrete path as our garden isn't huge and we don't want to have to dig up the small bit of grass Grace could play on.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Sounds like you have a lot on your plate Dinah.
The money situation and NIM's job must be really difficult. That is good he has found work and hopefully that will help. Will be really tough for you when he goes back to uni etc but will benefit you all in the future.
In terms of Grace think how far she has come already and just try and keep positive (i know its hard).
I know you would rather be with Grace but she will be fine in childcare and it may actually do you both some good. It is difficult when you are being forced into the situation though and obviously with Grace is always going to be hard to think of leaving her.
Big hugs xx0
