What a shock about your brother and his wife splitting up Poddle, hope you're OK
It must be so difficult in that situation when you've spent so long accepting someone into your family, then suddenly they're no longer part of it!
Annoying stuff about the PO Pilchard, I wonder if they're upselling something to your OH (recorded/insured?) that you're not opting for when you go? Luckily my PO people are quite nice and will squish the life out of parcels to make them go through the little slots and are really apologetic when they're just too big!
Have you got any friends with little kiddies you can take to a farm to feed lambs Tete? Might be a nice trip out with your godson? I know there's one in Bedale and once you're done with that you can go on the steam train to somewhere like Leyburn for an ice cream before coming back! Awww now I want to find someone with a kiddo I can take out for the day!
I'm with you on the wham-bam crafting Cinny! I kind of lose interest if something can't be finished in 1 or 2 sessions.Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Sorry to hear that Poddle, although I have heard of other long-term couples getting married and then splitting up. Not sure why though. I was a bit worried about OH and I as we had been together for 7 years when we got married!
Nice to hear about other people's Day Zero exploits
I'd totally take you up on sewing lessons if we lived closer, Star. I've altered things, and made a roman blind which was all hand stitched and took actual weeks. But it does look nice, perhaps the first thing I made that looks halfway decent, because I followed such a good YouTube tutorial to the very letter.
Today is very exciting because it's finally wallpaper the closet day :j Can't wait to get my mitts on that pretty Amy Butler paper.:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
Yeah I might think about kidnapping him Birdie, then spending all day shoving him out the way so I can get near the animals
I hate the PO people, they never try hard enough to get things through the slot in my opinion - and it is WAY smaller than a normal letterbox anyway *grump* - would love to know how you 'politely' ask them to try harder Bec?!
It does sound like things are moving fast with the house Beccie, fingers crossed it all goes smoothly. Your Dad has debt as well?! Augh, it gets worse
I have a feeling NIM has an interview or meeting or something today so if I'm right - good luck with it!!
EDIT - cross posted with Lara - I too have known people be together for years before getting married and then splitting soon after. It almost seems as though they've been together so long they have to go through with it ... but in reality it's maybe just that the relationship had a 10 year lifespan and if they'd married in the third year rather than the eighth it wouldn't have been so surprising?Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
I tell them to put some welly into it!
No, I don't really, I just say give it a squish and try again with my best smile, and they normally oblige

Ohh I wouldn't dare do that!! I'm too shy for my own good sometimes. I do make the effort when packing to make sure clothes etc are folded wide and flat...Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0

Oooh that is exciting Lara!
Good point about the relationship lifespan Tete. Some people will just break up after a certain number of years, married or not. It's sad though.
Not good news about your Dad's debt Beccie. Must feel like a sh!tty snowball right now for your Mum.Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -

I think sometimes as well (not always, that sounds bad!) that people get married when they are trying to fix a relationship which is why they may split up shortly after.
It does seem like one thing after another at the moment Birdie - but then I think, best to know it all now then being shocked further down the lineDebt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0 -

My SIL did that. They'd been together about 5 years then had this amazing (read very expensive) wedding in the Bahamas. They came home and he literally moved out the following month. apparently he had been warned before they went away and he said he'd change but after they came back she said she'd had enough so kicked him out. I think if that was me I would have had the holiday but not bothered with the wedding as they then had to get divorced!Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -
Put the violin away Cinny, we're here! As you say, just been having a busy Easter. We went visting friends for the day on Saturday, had an emotional Sunday, and Monday we went to Beamish which was beyond crazy busy (we had to queue for over an hour to get in the cafe for lunch) and Grace enjoyed all her ice-creams.
Really sorry to hear your news Poddle, that must have been a real shock.
Grace poorly again, she's been up a lot during the night with a streaming nose and just a dry cough but also retching on all the runny nose gunk in her throat. Poor bairn. NIM was a complete star this morning that I didn't even have to ask, he just got up with her at 8.15ish when she woke for the day, since I'd been up with her between 3.15 and 5.15, and been awake with her maybe 10 times on top of that I was so grateful for the extra kip.
Feeling quite proud this morning, wanted some new skincare stuff from Sanctuary, been watching it on ebay as people often are selling it new and sealed for 50% of the price of it at Boots. Then I realised I have lots of Boots points to use, so I logged on and not only is all the skincare I wanted 3 for 2, but it came to 5100 points, and I had 5187, plus it has free delivery, so 6 products totally free. Can't wait for them to arrive. Only just discovered Sanctuary, always thought they were just a cheap gift box filler but their facial series has been amazing for me.
Went out for a great Groupon indian last night, will definately be going back. While there NIM managed to arrange an interview via email with a lady he's wanted to work for for a long time. While it's not care work it's still in market research, and a long drive away at that, if he gets it then he'll take it happily but still apply for the nursing course as you don't need care experience for that, only for medicine. Although the plan would be still to apply for the bank work on weekends anyway.
He has an interview this afternoon for bank care work so fingers crossed, I'm going to be doing the figures after this to work out how much he'd need to earn in Leeds to make commuting down there earn more than a £13k job he can cycle to.
Had to pay 8 blinking pounds to post a pair of trousers yesterday, really not chuffed as I'd looked up the price of postage and weighed the item on Saturday, and it came to £5.30, surely they should have had on the chart 'prices go up after today'!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
