Yes! The April date is a middle of the afternoon one but the May one is the 18th and on an evening, should we book onto that one?

We're a bit confused on that to be honest, we're not sure if we can get child tax credits, if it's based on expected or current income we will, if it's based on the 2012-2013 tax year I think we're a few thousand over the threashold as obviously I got maternity and he was on full pay the whole time.

NIM I'm really sorry to hear about your job, but it sounds as though you are well on track to find something better, I will be keeping fingers and toes crossed for you. Are you owed any holiday pay or anything in your final pay?

Hope your mum is ok Ruby and that her cat is suitably shamefaced! And happy birthday for last week too!

They wont claw back the rest of this months pay and they'll pay me the 5.5 days holiday I'm owed.

I'm hopefully on track to something better, need to fill in an application tonight to drop off at a care home tomorrow. Dunno if I mentioned this or not but its run by an old friend of ours with whom we lost contact. I met her deputy at the weekend and will be hoping to catch her tomorrow morning when I go to hand in my application.

Warning, emomoan alert. This whole experience is taking it out of me a lot more than I expected it to. I think internalized a lot of it Friday and yesterday morning but last evening it just started to hit me all over again. Officially I'm unemployed and that is the scariest thing I have experienced since Grace came out of hospital. /end emomoan.

    Hows everyone elses Sunday going?
This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.

Today I've done a lot of the pre-baking for Grace's birthday bash. Alarmingly we tried some bread recipes, tarts, pies, vegan falafel thingies.... but the thing I managed to mess up entirely was the just add water jelly! I didn't read the pack right and added 50% too much water.

We had a very quiet weekend this weekend. OH gets paid tomorrow and between that and some money left over at the end of the month I should be able to pay off my overdraft.

NIM- I'm not surprised you are feeling a little emotional. I have worked as a care worker, with older people and people with disabilities. If you want any advice etc then feel free to PM me. I am on the other side now - project managing. When I am interviewing a potential support assistant I am looking for a person with a bit of a spark, passionate about working with people and working alongside them (not doing everything for them). Being person centred is very important in this line of work.

Can't believe Grace is nearly one!!!

Morning all, hope you are feeling a little better this morning NIM. Changing jobs is a massive life change so its always going to feel stressful and a little traumatic, for want of a better word. When I lost my job at the end of 2011 it was flipping awful so don't feel bad about having a moan on here - far better to do that than to internalise it all IMO. From what I 'know' of you, I'd say CMDs description above fits you pretty well so I'm sure you'll be great :)

I managed to list 11 things on ebay yesterday which is totally poor but at the same time pretty good going! They will only go for pennies but better that then a box full of junk in the spare room!

Happy birthday eve Grace, Cinny and Zig!

Crikey NIM, can't believe that about your job! :( Glad you're thinking about an alternative career now and good luck with the job hunting. Totally natural to feel emotional and panicky about it, it's a massive blow to take but I'm sure you'll manage to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and move on to much better things. In 6 months time you may well feel like shaking your ex manager's hand and thanking them for releasing you! :)

Hope your Mum's OK Ruby! Quite the tumble there, poor thing!

I have no idea how you can bake so much stuff in such a short space of time Dinah! It takes me All. Night. Long to bake a simple batch of cookies! :o

Very exciting about it being Grace's (and Cinny'ss and Zig's!) birthday tomorrow! What an amazing milestone for her, and she's starting to talk too! :T What a fantastic little girl she is! :D

We booked our holiday yesterday, 2 weeks here with our besties in September! :j OH is super excited about celebrating his 30th out there! :D
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!
