Sorry to hear you're still feeling rubbish Birdie, although glad you took a couple of days off. I could never get bored and restless at home, I know its not very pc but I long to be a kept woman :o Maybe I'm just lazy! Are you going to ask MIL to show you how to crochet as she goes or just crack on? I still really want to learn but every time I try I just get frustrated with my fat fingers and give up!

I hate answering the phone too Ruby but at least you will get over your aversion quick if you're doing it all the time. I used to hate it too (still do a little bit) but when I worked for a translation agency I used to have to ring the translators, many of whom lived abroad and would answer the phone in a variety of languages, that was a learning curve!

The cupcakes looked amazing, although I'm intrigued about the flavour too now, the clue about keeping an open mind passed me by! Good detectives skills Birdie!

Good luck with the job too Poolie, fingers crossed.

Is it really grim weather where everyone else is too today? Its pouring here and our building has sprung a leak, there are an assortment of buckets in the corridor catching the drips.

Pretty grim here too. :) So much for Spring being on the way! :p

Normally I do pretty well at home Shrimpy but for some reason these last couple of days I just couldn't settle on anything to do so just loafed about eating shortbread and huffing and puffing a lot. :o I'd like to be a kept woman too, but I know that realistically of the 2 of us OH would be a much better full-time home-maker! :o

I am going to ask MIL to teach me to crochet, I told her I want to make an owl. :) Hope it's something I can pick up but I am a little fingers-and-thumbsy so not too sure how I'll manage! :)

I was looking at ice cream carts for the wedding yesterday but although its mid-August I know if I book one it will rain all day-stupid weather! I just love ice cream!

I keep telling OH I'd make a lovely housewife, but my words aren't really borne out by my actions! I am trying to mend my ways though! On a house related note - I caved in an bought the ceramic owl last week. My life is now complete! He's more of a Pidwidgeon than a Hedwig though!

Congrats on the promotion Ruby, that's fab! And good luck for the new job too Poolie, I hope you get it.

Birdie sorry to hear you haven't been well the last couple of days. Hope you're on the mend now and not feeling too dastardly.

I have been just lurking as I have a huge, seemingly insurmountable deadline for Monday. So I have just been sitting for long hours at the computer trying to figure out what I am actually on about :o Not very well atm with an IBS flare-up so generally feeling a bit sorry for myself. I hope to make amazing progress today, got a 2000 word target which is ambitious in the extreme. OH is working away so he is out of hair - it's nice to have some peace!

The only other exciting thing that happened is our meat order direct from a farm arrived yesterday. It's a wee bit more expensive than the supermarkets but looks really nice. No horses in there at least :rotfl:

    Nice day everyone!

Oh just book the ice cream cart Shrimpy! Even if it rains it'll be awesome! :) My life will not be complete until I've had a party with an ice cream bar! :)

Sweet owl! :) Makes sense that you've got Pig when Hedwig is living with me! :)

ETA: Hope you get lots of lovely words written today Lara!

What flavour were the cupcakes Dinah? Looked lovely but I'm intrigued as to why NIM would need an open mind? :)

Dinah, did Beccie send you the flowery blanket and owl blanket patterns or just the flowery one? :o I saw my MIL yesterday and gave her the pattern for the owl blanket and told her to crack on, she's so excited to make it bless her! :)

    No owls just flowers.

Banana cake with chocolate frosting. I was surprised actually, I don't usually like bananas in any way cooked, but they made the best sponge I've ever made I think, super soft and fluffy with a nice even texture, very proud :D

Meeting my boss this afternoon for a return to work interview, I'm so incredibly nervous. Don't know why, what's the worst he can do? I just think he'll either flat out refuse to let me work a day a week from home, or I'll get shoved into a job I don't want in the other team because their team don't have to deal with the public as much so it's already written in that they can work from home (would be no problem at all letting my team work from home 1-3 days a week either so long as someone was in the office manning the phones and the drop in applicants).

I don't think they can flat out refuse can they? That's illegal. They'd at least have to pretend to consider it and then refuse... Que sera sera Dinah and shy bairns get nowt remember!

And now i'm singing for the rest of the day.

Mind you given the water has just gone out, meaning we need to walk over 500 yards to the next building to use the facilities singing isnt such a bad thing.
This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.

I'll e-mail you the pattern at some point today then. :)

Hope the meeting goes well, I'm sure your boss will have to consider any sensible requests, which yours is, so hopefully it'll be good news. :)

Got the in laws coming on the weekend so house needs a full clean, need to make DD a "fur" coat for school tomorrow (they are doing world book day tomorrow cos a lot of teachers are on courses today) and I haven't got time to get everything done I need to unless I do it after work tonight.
