Hope everything went well and you're feeling as good as you can be, Shrimpy :) Would have posted yesterday but I was a bit cut off all day.

    How's your OH, Birdie?

Speaking of tricksy little hobbitses, my friend got me some half-ling slippers for Christmas :rotfl: I told OH if/when we go to see The Hobbit that I'm going to wear them

Did everyone have a nice weekend? :)

Really nice weekend, had my office party on Friday which shocked me into making me really want to go back, at least part time anyway. Missed the banter and doing something I'm good at. They're even prosecuting on one of the buildings I have been advising on, and I'm going to miss the court date, gutted. There are two managers in my general area, and the other one spent most of the night trying to convince me to go and join his team - nice to feel wanted! I told him if he offers me a promotion we'll have something to talk about.

Spent yesterday at a big outdoor crafts and food fair. Was really nice, but I did feel it was a bit sad as we couldn't go in to the cafe and things as it was too busy for Grace to be allowed, so we had to feed her outside on some steps at the back of the building - never have I been so glad I wasn't breastfeeding! She fell asleep straight after snuggled up in the buggy, we bought a few food bits, but mostly I just kept going back to the mulled wine man (nothing like 6 cups of mulled wine to get you feeling festive).

And in urgh, Money News. We're about £1555 short this month. Which seems incredible to us, then we broke it down, the two car insurances, an MOT, money to start the business off, buying the actual car, it's all come out this month. We can cope as we have a shockingly large overdraft facility, but obviously we'd like to minimise how much we sink into the red. I got 20 things on ebay on Saturday, but I don't really think it's the time of year as hardly anything even has watchers. We have a couple of things we can return to the shops though, so we'll start there and see what we can come up with.

Wow, that's quite a staggering amount to be short by! I'm sure you'll pull something out the bag though! :)

Sounds like you had a nice weekend though! :) We had a fairly quiet one, just a bit of shopping, crafting and eating with the family for us! :)

OH's OK cinny :) Doing my head in a bit as he's 'well' but can't do everything he wants to do as his arm starts to hurt if he does anything with it so he's restless and getting under my feet. :p Still bandaged up until he sees the doctor for an assessment tomorrow; I'm in 2 minds about what I want him to say. On one hand, it'll be nice if he gets signed off over Christmas as he needs the break and his working hours are really sucky (12-8pm Christmas Eve, normal rubbish hours 27th & 28th, 12-8 on Saturday 29th :p) but on the other hand... I really could do with him not hanging around at home all the time asking me what I'm doing/where I'm going every time I move! :p I want to get some presents sorted for him and he's not making it easy! :o

In more fun news, my Dad has asked for a hat with ears for Christmas (actual ears sticking up, not ear flaps) so I bought him one with furry ears yesterday! He's going to be the cutest 61-year-old kid ever! :)

Tete, I'm sorry I wasn't very clear in my post which was comparing LOTR with the Hobbit. No Legolas action in Hobbitses, only James Nesbitt to ogle :rotfl:

Oh right, well I'm not interested then! :D

    Hi all!

Shrimpy - really hope yesterday went well and you're feeling chipper today! Was it an outpatient thing or are you still in? When are you going home? Actually, if you are still in hospital you probably can't answer that!

Well done on getting the laptop set up Ruby, you must have the patience of a saint, or perhaps your Dad's not as technologically challenged as mine.

That's nice about feeling wanted at work Dinah (must be nice anyway, can't imagine what it must feel like!) - much as I moan about work, I can't really imagine ever being a full-time mum for more than about a year.

Eek though that is a lot of money! I can't recommend enough having pots of money for car costs (I know you probably started out like that but this year has been a bit of a shocker for you) - I have my MOT today but have £400 squirrelled away for it. Have a feeling it might cost about that much too as I have a leak somewhere in the passenger footwell, suspect I need some welding on the underneath :o Did I miss where you got the new car? What did you get?

Not a new new car, an old car that's new to us. Kind of. You remember my black Alfa..... well we bought it back again :D

I only see the point in having savings if you don't have debts, atm everything is interest free, but in Aprilish it starts on interest, so we need to clear it before then. Once our debts are gone we're looking forward to having a nice savings fund behind us.

    Morning,

    Hope evryhing went ok Shrimpy.

Glad you had a nice weekend Dinah. That is good they are missing you at work. Hopefully you can work something out. I always thought i'd love being a sahm but i enjoy working and find it a good mix.

eek about the money but i am sure it will all work out for you.

Birdie - that is so cute about the hat for your dad!

Had a good weekend here too. Went down to see family and then we went on a steam train and father christmas came on it yesterday. Poppy enjoyed herself and think my dad loved the train. Felt like we were on our way to hogwarts haha. Last 4 days of work before christmas but should be an easy week.
  • Argh I'm jealous Wendz, am dying to go on a steam train! Am off to Beamish on Saturday so that should be nice and Christmassy. They have steam engine things there but I don't think they go very far...

I thought the Alfa had died! Oh well that's nice that you have him back! I see you point on debt/savings, I call them pots, not savings as it's for things I know I'm going to have to pay for but each to their own :)

Gah need to do some work as this is my last full day before Christmas but I can't be faffed! I want to be at home watching Santa Claus the Movie or something!
