These rugby guys are all mad as a bag of badgers. I can't get over how numbed to pain they must be not to notice breaks.

  • I ended up breaking both my legs (at different times I might add) when I used to play rugby. But I definitely knew about it both times! Hope he gets it sorted Birdie! At least he didn't ignore it for too long!

Sitting here waiting for my Dad's new laptop to arrive. I am so tempted to get it all set up for him ready for when he comes home because I know he'll ask me to do it for him later anyway. But then he's like a big kid and will probably want to unwrap it himself!

Why not unpack it, set it up and the wrap it back up?

Totally agree about rugby boys being mental! He broke his arm a few years ago and carried on playing, figured it couldn't get any worse :) Think they just get used to hurting after a game and only start to worry if the pain doesn't go away after a couple of beers! :p He's sent me a text saying it's 'just' torn forearm muscle and damaged bone lining so he's heavily bandaged but no pot, which he was worried about! No work for him until at least Tuesday when he's got to go back to the GP though so that'll be [strike]annoying[/strike] nice, having him under my feet all night, every night! :p

Hope your Dad likes his laptop Ruby! My Dad love gadgets but has no idea how to use them bless him! He's asked for a loaded SD card for his tablet for christmas (music and movies on it etc) and I just know he'll be calling me all the time to find out how to play things! :o

  • I thought you were going to say he was having a heart attack when when you mentioned the pins and needles up the arm! Glad it's not too serious! I know a girl who was running the London Marathon and her foot was 'hurting a bit' - when she took her shoe off at the end her whole foot was black and it turns out she'd run the marathon with a broken foot! _pale_ And in a faster time than I could ever hope to do too might I add!

Don't talk about dads and gadgets! My Dad is driving me potty with his new smartphone, I wish wish wish he'd got an iphone as at least I know how to work those. He keeps doing things to it and getting little symbols appearing along the top bar and I then have to spend an hour on google trying to fix it

Work is a nightmare this morning, we have a new girl just started a couple of weeks ago and I've been passing a few things on for her to do, simple but quite mundane tasks - one of which was to populate a spreadsheet with all the students' results which she said she'd done, but I've looked today (her day off) and she's only randomly done some of them. I don't know whether she's lazy or incompetent or if it just hasn't saved right but either way I'm having to go through and double check it all, which probably takes longer than just doing the task in the first place. This is why I don't like delegating my work

But, Christmas cardie at the ready - we're off for our office Christmas dinner later ... and I mean later. Turns out the table isn't booked until 2.30 which means we'll be eating at 3pm if we're lucky - I'll have wasted away by then!

Ouch to all these injury stories _pale_ how on earth do you run a marathon with a broken foot?! Glad your OH hasn't broken anything Birdie although it still sounds pretty ick to me!

I threw my toys out of the pram a bit yesterday and lodged a complaint with the hospital - I just got so frustrated with no one giving my any information and no one seemed remotely bothered. Anyway I magically got a call from the formerly-mean-but-now-nice-as-pie secretary to assure me that I would be seen before Christmas and that I am a priority and lo and behold, this morning I got a call to say that my op is scheduled for Sunday :T I feel a bit rotten complaining as I don't like to think anyone is getting 'told off', but I was just at the end of my tether with it all. So I will be in and out before Christmas, hurrah!

Evening out the good news/bad news balance, we have been advised that there is £1250 worth of urgent electrical work needed to the house, with the recommendation of a full rewire in the next few years, so we also spent yesterday renegotiating with the vendors. They have agreed to meet us in the middle for the full cost of a rewire so we're happy with that and things are hopefully moving forward again.

I will be sleeping through the whole of Christmas at this rate!

How annoying about your colleague Tete! If she's randomly done some but not others could it be that she was unsure about some of the details and wanting to check them with you...? Although it sounds fairly straightforward. Did she have other work experience before starting with you or is this a first job? I am quite lazy/unfocused at work these days I admit, but my workload has no impact in anyone else so its only me that ends up paying for it when it mounts up :p

And in much less important news I tried my dress on for my work do last night, and it absolutely DROWNS me. There is easily 2" either side of the bust that isn't filled so it sticks out under my arms. I still keep buying in what I would have termed my old 'optimistic' size (and it probably wouldn't have fit) and I can't get it into my head that I'm actually a bit smaller now.

Aw Dinah that's a shame about the dress - but good that you've lost the weight I think? Am I right in saying the doctors wanted you to lose a bit for your BP? No idea where you have lost it from as you were tiny anyway! Can you return the dress?

Aye they want me to loose about 2 1/2 stone, which would take me to a bmi of 18.5. I fear I'm going to look like a rakish goul, I'm quite happy where I am right now to be honest.
