That's horrible about the woman on the phone, Shrimpy. I'd put a complaint in, that's not right at all
Sending you plenty of hugs! Hope you heard something yesterday.
You're killing it with the deadlines, Lara! Best of luck with the India application
You're going to have a right little bear of a daughter at this rate, Dinah. Can't believe she'll be one in a handful of months.
That's so cute with the baby names! Scanned the list and only one of our baby girl names is on there. We have Willow, Ivy and Lori (after my Sister) picked out now.
Hope everyone is safe on the frost and ice this morning!0 -
I love all of those. Willow was on our shortlist (read LONG list) but no matter how many names we liked, or loved, they just weren't her name if you get me, as soon as I said Grace we just knew we'd found our daughter's name, and it wasn't really a decision because that was just the name she was.
Blinking cold. Heating is on full pelt and it's still freezing inside. Grace is having her morning nap in her swing and I've got two blankets on top of her just to try to keep her warm enough when she's not moving about.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Ivy's my fave I think, love old lady names (hence Mavis the cat
)

I'm guessing this was after she was born from the way you've worded it? Really irks me when people find out what they're having and name it before it's born - like, how do you KNOW he's going to look like a Cornelius? It just seems too early to commit to it to me!
Saw you're busy on facebook Dinah - yay to all the orders!! And Lara must be almost finished all her work by now at yesterday's rateWeightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
It was two days before she was born, we'd never mentioned Grace before that, I REALLY didn't want her leaving me and going up to the nicu without a name, so the plan was to have a shortlist of maybe 10 names and see what she was when she came out, but as soon as I said 'Grace' I just KNEW that was who she was, it wasn't my favourite name on paper, but it was her name so that's all that mattered. When she came out and was in the warmer being seen by the docs and NIM, he said to me 'do you think she looks like the name we thought she was?' and I looked over, and she was in this plastic bag to keep her warm, and higher up than me, all I could see was this tiny sole of a foot, and my blood pressure chose that moment to crash from 160/125 down to 80/60 so I felt sick and dizzy, so all I could mumble was 'yep, sure' - I knew it was her name anyway, but I couldn't tell much about this little person from a baggie wrapped foot!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Ah in those circumstances I can understand. I have a cousin who's pregnant and not due til April, she's already made her 'home' check-ins on facebook along the lines of "Having Sunday Dinner - at Sue, Bob and Rita's House*" - I was like, who's Rita? Oh, the bump. Seems odd to me.

Ahh if only Tete. Still working away though! One deadline has to be finished end of this week and the other one next Tuesday afternoon. Workarama!
Awww Dinah it must have been such a worrying time for you guys. I am so glad you've got Grace at home all cuddled up in the warm. I love Birdie's name the best of all girl and boy names:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -

That weirds me out too just because I couldn't make that commitment. We just have a list because we want names that fit people in all life stages. Like you could picture a little 5 year old Ivy running wild, 18 year old Ivy going off to Uni, 35 year old Ivy stressing over her first wrinkle etc etc! And it's hard to find names that fit that and which Rich likes so I'm holding onto them
I think Grace's name is perfect for herLovely that you have a proper story to go a long with her name. My Mum was certain I was going to be a boy so she hadn't picked a girls name. I was just plucked from the air!

I had DD's name picked (first and first middle not the second middle) out years before she was even a twinkle in my eye! Luckily she really suits it as its a beautiful name (even if I say so myself, lol) for a beautiful girl
We were more stumped on a boys' name, but again only had one serious contender that we both agreed on.0 -
What a s0d of a day! Been juggling so many complicated bits of work and don't know if I'm coming or going. Can't even relax with a glass of wine tonight as I've got to do some extra work that I'm not allowed to start until 9, which is annoying as it's going to take me ages and will require lots of concentration as things will go very wrong if I mess it up!
Anyway, whilst I'm waiting for someone to tell me to set something running before I can go home I'll just check in.Agree that it's a little odd to pick a name well before baby's born. Most people I know have had nicknames for the baby (Jasper, Pipkin etc) but I've noticed a couple of people over on the pregnancy thread (not that I lurk there much!) calling their baby's by their 'actual' names which I find confusing!
Sweet how Grace's name was picked though, I do think that sometimes you just get a gut feeling about something!
Lara, how odd that you like my name!I always wanted something more mainstream and girly when I was younger, not exactly a princess name is it?!

So last night OH rang me at 6pm asking to be picked up from work as his wrist was really hurting, he had pins and needles up his arm and his hand was numb  went to minor injuries (as we don't have a proper A&E at our local hospital) and it's been bandaged up with a suspected break! He's going for an x-ray this morning to see if it is a break/chipped bone or if it's 'just' torn ligaments.
His friend who broke his ankle on Saturday is in pot (a beautiful green and red striped pot for Christmas) for 6 weeks and off work for 12 (he's a pilot so can't go to work on 'light duties'
) so at least OH will have some company if he's off work too.
Hope the work's going OK Lara
Work is still stupid today and I have to do more work tonight as well as Sunday night... I'm just thinking about the overtime!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0
