Hello and happy new thread everyone!

It's amazing to read Dinah and NIM's story written down like that - well done, guys! You're pretty ace :T

Can't believe we've been here all that time! I'm looking forward to a 2013 challenge too.

Birdie, glad your jumper got the props it deserved! It looked awesome, as did you hair btw. Ouch about the rugby injuries, hope your OH hasn't broken his wrist.

ETA: Crossed posts with Tete - hey Tete! Sorry about your tooth and ebay trauma. Everything else sounds nice though! I had my hair coloured dark red, though it actually turned out - impossibly - an even darker brown than it was to start with. Oh to have beautiful light hair!

Hello and happy new thread  Amazing to read how much progress you've made Dinah, and I agree that its always great to read back at the start of a new thread. I have also been here from near to the beginning, originally as a lurker, I confess!

Tete, I feel your pain with eBay! OH sol his car through it last week having tried advertising elsewhere, and the amount of ridiculous emails we got was, well, ridiculous. (Offering around half the asking price then basically abusing us for not accepting!) Eventually we accepted an offer on it, only for the buyer to disappear off the face of the earth and not respond to any of our messages. Eventually we gave up, relisted and sold for the same amount, only for the original buyer to reappear and ask if it was still for sale! !!!!!!! Sorry, accidentally wandered off into a rant of my own there!

While I am on a rant, I still haven't heard anything from the hospital re a new date for my operation, got in touch with the patient liaison people on Wed, but haven't heard back from them again although I have sent them a couple of chase emails. So pretty cheesed off about that to be honest.

Glad to hear the jumper was duly appreciated Birdie and hope the wrist is ok, and also your tooth Tete!

I must do better to keep up with the thread, I'm sure I had lots more to say! Off to have a lil nose at your thread now Cinny :o

Awww shucks Poddle! :o No-one at work noticed my hair when I had it done and this morning my manager walked in with brown hair after being blonde for ages so I made a big deal about it to make a point! :p

I'd like to be a blonde too I really don't think it would suit my colouring! :o I'd also love to have real curls too, which my Mum has and hates, she always shakes her head at me when I curl my hair! ;)

Sorry about the tooth _pale_ hope it gets fixed rather than yanked!

How annoying about the non-payers, why buy stuff and not pay for it?!

Sorry you're still waiting for a date for your operation Shrimpy, hope it comes through soon. :)

Eeep Tete, you have the worst luck with Ebayers, sorry to hear that. And the tooth!!! Ow. Hope the guy is nice, glad you're giving him the benefit of the doubt at least for a little bit. LOled at your description of spelling skills and cats!

Hair dyeing all round ladies, am impressed. My fringe is like a thatched roof at the moment! Anybody got new party clothes for Christmas? It's book club tonight which is the height of my Christmas social calendar!

Birdie, glad you got due compliments for the jumper, it was truly awesome! I bet all your mates will be wanting one for Christmas next year.

Shrimpy ((((huge hugs)))) for hospital stress. You're right to keep on top of them. I hope they get you an appointment quick smart though - big fingers crossed.

Well I've just got the perfect storm of deadlines that I can't possibly meet atm, which is making me :( Today I have to deliver some proposals for the internship which is looking a little dodgy. I'm also overdue on an abstract, have a 2000 word paper that's supposed to be handed in today but hasn't been started. Plus a chapter due on 18th December of 8000 words that also hasn't been started. AND a first draft of the whole PhD for 11th January.

Did I say

  • Oh my goodness Lara you sound so snowed under, have you spoken to your tutor(s)?? It did make me smile and feel slightly relieved that your social highlight is book group - mine is the runners' Christmas do at the local bowling club which finished promptly at 11pm :D Other than that it's Christmas Dinner with work during the day - so I bought myself a Chrimble Cardie rather than a sparkly frock :o.

Birdie I noticed your hair but don't think I commented sorry :o It does look lovely though - are you still planning on going lighter at the ends?

Sorry to hear of the trouble with the hospital Shrimpy :( Definitely keep on at them, but in a nice polite way ;) Glad the car sold eventually as well - it's never the cheapo 99p items that cause the problems is it, although I guess my £12 shoes aren't much compared to a car! :D

Eeek sounds like there's a little too much on your plate Lara!

Tete, I did *try* to go lighter last week but the dye wouldn't take on my stubborn dark hair! :o OH has asked me not to mess with it any more as 'It is light enough now' (he's scared it'll turn green! :p) so I think I'm just going to live with it as is for a while as I don't like the thought of wrecking it too much. :)

I haven't got any more Christmas do's (apart from a couple of work lunches the first of which is tomorrow) so no fancy clothes for me. I have got a green dress (which I wore under my jumper on Saturday) that I'm going to wear on christmas day which I actually bought months ago but when I showed OH the first thing he said was 'You look like a Christmas tree' so it has become a festive frock! :p

  • I think you would struggle to get it any lighter without peroxide really, although it IS only the ends, so not too drastic if they go a bit dry ... :)

I may have gotten a new dress for the office party/Christmas day (undecided which)

Grace got a party dress too . Luckily NIM didn't want a new dress.

Been a very busy weekend but can't really work out why, hopefully can catch up with things I've missed tomorrow.

  • I managed to pick up a couple of dresses in the New Look sale using some of the vouchers I got when I left my previous job. One purple one that was in a size smaller than I usually wear and it's just a tiny bit too tight around the bottom area. With some shaping knickers on though it should be fine! The other one is nay with a black peter pan collar which got an outing on Saturday night. OH took me out for dinner for our 2 year engagement anniversary and then we were supposed to be going "out out" but after standing at the bar in Slug and Lettuce for 25 minutes without moving our mood was severely dampened and we ended up coming home to the vodka that was in the freezer!

Sounds like you're really under pressure Lara, just remember to breathe and try and keep calm, but I agree with Tete that it might be worth speaking to someone about all the deadlines that are due in at the same time.

Hope you get a new appointment soon Shrimpy :(

You could really make a business from customising Christmas jumpers Birdie! I've seen so many people walking around in classic jumpers, I'm sure they'd love something a little bit different!

I've been drawn in and started a new diary for myself to keep an eye on my spending for next year. I really want to get a good chunk of money saved next year so this means cutting down on my spending (since OH is concentrating on paying off his debt before he contributes to the saving).
