  • Hi there! I was excited to find this thread today as I've recently taking up running :) I've just completed week 8 of Couch25k - never thought I'd be running for 28 mins at a time a few months ago but there we are. Today's run I felt fantastic, although I still struggle sometimes during runs, I'm not very fit still. Not quite going to be running 5k by the end of it I think, did 3.7k today. Don't think I'll be able to add 1.3k on in two minutes next week :P I guess I'm just going to have to keep adding time on to the end of my runs until I get there!

Anyway just some encouragement to people who want to start running! if I can do it, someone who hasn't run or done consistent aerobic exercise in about 10 years, ANYONE can!

Great post! That just about sums up why anyone should try it! Well done

Very good, perhaps I could do with some of those shoes!;)
I managed 2 runs this week both hilly 5 miles, felt a bit fitter, both done in under the hr.:T I did a strength session today too as that helps. Hoping to manage 4 runs next week, and 4 strength sessions as i'm racing at end of feb so seriously need to get fit.

  • Last week I made the decision that I simply *had* to run 3 miles /5k after having messed around with 2 miles for ages. And I did it  I'm not fast but everything I've read says I shouldn't worry about that at the moment but I've learned that you don't have to stop just because you're tired. So now I've downloaded and app and to get me up to 10k and have decided that next payday I'm going to get measured properly for running shoes - the ones I bought off the net are fine but I'm always aware of them and I'd like ones that are 100% comfortable.

I'm well into my 40s and haven't done any aerobic exercise since I left school. If I can do it (and not actually *hate* it :rotfl:), anyone can.

Excellent, just keep at it, the shoes will make a difference, and you are right dont worry about speed just do the programme and as long as you are working at a good level you will be getting fitter

Dont have the bright shoe problem being a trail/fell runner. One run usually sees any pair of shoes to mud colour regardless what colour they started out
