Marathon in March of this year? I would say it depends on how much training you've already been doing / miles per week, etc. Otherwise, for a March marathon, I would have thought you'd have to been well into a training schedule by now.
I'll leave it to more regular runners to add their thoughts. Mine are just based on seeing/hearing what other club members have been doing over winter.0 -
Another 10 km on Thursday
In a PB... 52.50
Don't quite know how I could get below that 50 m mark,
But last year I was stuck at about 58mins
Of out again for another 10 today, but a relaxing leg turner,
Nothing too outrageous.
Good luck to all heading out this weekend

Have to agree, either you must be running a lot, or you should consider several half marathons and build up
Good luck anyway

But the point is that you DID it. Well done you! And its more than I've done.
Although, my regular email from my running club says they're doing a couple of 'coaching in the community runs' for beginners/improvers starting this week. I might give it a try on Sunday as going from nothing (for almost two years!) to 5K (with stops), might be a bit much to launch straight back into. I know the park they're running in and its beautiful. Now, all I have to do is find those trainers of mine . . . Wish me luck. I think I'm going to need it.
Good luck
It's great to get out there, in a nice park and not put too much pressure on yourself
Then make sure you keep doing it. 2-4 times a week, and you will naturally improve.
But for now, just enjoy that first one. I hope it goes well.Sealed Pot Challenge 2013: No 1898

Well, I did it. It wasn't fast, far or comfortable but it was a start. It was only about 3.5k with stops and a little walking, but hopefully it will kick start me again.
It was then followed by a really lovely meal at an Italian restaurant. Which was frankly a lot more enjoyable!0 -
Sorry - I have been running quite a lot however just not that length of time and probably too fast
Last week did 1hr 40 and kept heart rate constant
Saturday did 1 hour out however 1hr 2mins coming back with the same method of keeping ave hr consistent.
Did have the wind to contend with on way back and a tired dogYear 2019 (1,700/£17000mortgage repayment)Overall mortgage (71,400/165568) (44

Hi Running Lea
Ok- that's pretty good, if you are running two hrs and you are roughly on pace for around a half marathon ( or slightly less) then you are doing ok
However, most people need to taper prior to running a marathon which effectively means you have about a month or so to get that mileage up to near 20miles and I would say you need a couple of them to be really ready.
On the flip side, there are plenty if people who do things differently, and if it works for you to jump up in distance quickly you certainly not alone.
Most importantly,,,, let us know how you get on, and good luck

The only two marathons I did, that is how I trained. However I 'blew up' in both of them.
The London was the heat as it was a very hot day.
It was just by reading up about the different training zones that I thought I would try it that way.
5 zones with 1 being the easiest all measured on my heart rate.
The run I did on saturday was all done in level two and three which should stop the lactose being usedYear 2019 (1,700/£17000mortgage repayment)Overall mortgage (71,400/165568) (44
