DFS what to expect?

I ordered 2 Hepburn sofas from dfs in october. They were delivered last thursday, however the front legs on both sofas do not sit straight, they bend backwards at a noticeable angle.

I pointed this out to the delivery men as they were putting the legs on and they blamed the frame not being attached properly to teh large sofa and put an extra screw in (apparently). But the legs were still noticably wonky.

After 3-4 attempts of removing and rescrewing the legs in the problem still remained and they admitted defeat and blamed the extra material tucked underneath.

Not content with signing and letting them go I phoned the DFS strore I bought them from while the guys were still here, the store asked to speak to the guys who confirmed the legs were not straight and they had tried their best to fix but couldn't.

I was asked to phone another store (Cardiff) and explained the situation and that I was not happy to accept delivery if this could not be fixed. The guy told me to accept the delivery and to sign for it on the screen thingy, but to write on the delivery note that I there was a problem with the legs and that a service manager would be arranged to come out Thursday (tomorrow) to assess the problem.

Well the sofa legs are no better, and is noticeable enough that 2 visitors have commented on it so not just my imagination.

My question - what should I expect from the service manager when he comes? Should I ask for new sofas? Am I within my rights to still refuse them as the problem was raised on delivery (and has been documented on their paperwork)? Will he offer discount?

Does anyone know? Bearing in mind we have been using the sofas (at their request) for a week now can they decline to help?

Any ideas or advce would be appreciated
Thanks

  • It is very possible that the problem is the delivery guys just didn't do it right and they blamed the sofa!

Also possible that the sofa feet have been drilled slightly off or the screws were the wrong ones etc etc. it's very hard to tell without seeing it. If the rest of the sofa is fine and the problem is the feet/screws/delivery guys then there is really no point asking for a new one.
Its difficult to make a decision without knowing what the problem is really.
