Never had a issue receiving, as someone has always been home.

Sending, well it's been fine 80% of the time. Used them several times last year and last month, was collected on the day opted. This month, just last week I organised another collection for a parcel and 2 days past and no one came, managed to get a refund however.

Better than the local Yodel guy here who thinks its ok to show up at 10PM though.

Hi just noticed this thread as I was looking at the free parcel offer with parcel to go.

I've yet to send my friends Christmas present to Australia and was considering this but Ive only used the post office to send parcels before as I can't be in all day to wait for couriers.

Last year it cost me about £20 to send a small parcel to Australia but Royal Mail seems cheaper than the courier prices but I'm not sure what the weight will be yet - doubt more than 2kg as I keep it light items. Not sure of box size but won't be too big.

So wondering if there's any websites I should look at or if I'm best to stick with sending via the post office?

I don't drive but could take it to one of the shops who offer collection but can't be in all day for a courier.

If anyone's got any good reliable companies they use for Australia I'd appreciate ideas. Many thanks in advance.

Hey Alison, I always use worldwide-parcelservices.co.uk for Australia deliveries, they always come up quite cheap for longer distances in comparison to other couriers.

Hi, just checked various comparison sites in order to find a more competitive quote than £18 for 5kg (approx 50/30/25cm) including cover of up to £1400 - I'd very much appreciate some ideas/pointers provided there are any substantially cheaper offers...?!!
You need to be absolutely certain that your item is covered by the insurance for something of this value. Carriers exclude lots of things so go through their small print to be sure it is covered.
  • I have always found Yodel very reliable & reasonable price. What I want to know is why all couriers have to charge VAT, but the Post Office doesn't. This is most unfair.

Is it? Have you looked into exactly what VAT RM charge?

The usual famberley crimbo boxes to NZ are ready to go - 2 of them.

    37 x 27 x 50cm. 9165gms.

    32 x 27 x 40cm, 7000gms.

via p2g I find Trakpak come in at £96.92 and, hopefully, mse discount code will reduce this.
Yes, I am well aware that the nonsense contents hardly merit such cost, but it was ever thus.

    Any experience of these peeps?

Or, any ideas for slower but cheaper, nonetheless likely to arrive around crimbo time?

All advice appreciated - many thanks.

Trakpak through P2G is the cheapest I can see as well.
Trakpak is backed by BPost, the national post service for Belgium, so is a reputable carrier.

Apparently the MSE code doesn't cover dropshop, whereas 'TVFREE' also gives a £10 discount, but does offer dropshop.

Also, if you can get one of the parcels both picked up, and dropped off at a business, you can probably send it for free, at http://www.tnt.com/express/en_gb/site/home/about_us/brandcampaign.html
