My sister asked me to send a plate rack to Malaysia. dimensions of box 35 *55 * 50 cm but it on;y weighs around 3kg max.

Just been to the Post Office who say they could do it Parcel Force - £77. Tried online and they're quoting £129 +++. I get the impression they're making assumptions about weight from dimension which are completely erroneous.

At that rate I could hand deliver it!

    Looking for a reasonable alternative
If you go to https://www.royalmail.com you can see you can send it for £53.30 as long as you don't mind it taking 8 weeks, or £64.95 for 6-8 days.

It's technically classed as small packets, up to 3kg.

You probably got your rate from the Parcelforce website? This is often more expensive than the post office, as they charge by volumetric weight, rather than gross weight.

Other than that, the cheapest independent carrier rate I saw was £80.39 at https://www.parcelmonkey.co.uk

I'm confused too.... I recently bought something off eBay for £10.95 including 'Free' postage. It was large (500mm X 500mm X 500mm) but light (0.3kgs), 'do you know what it is yet'???

Made enquiries at Royal Mail, ParcelForce and others mentioned here. Cheapest PF would send was £11.50 and was too big for the other couriers.

My question is, How can the guy I bought from buy, sell, post and make a profit? Admittedly he seems to shift a lot of items but must be getting a mega-discount!! PF couldn't/wouldn't tell me how much I'd need to shift to get the same.....

    Thoughts/experiences please!!

If it was marginally smaller (two sides 46cm not 50cm) it could go Royal Mail 48 for £2.21 if the seller was an account holder

Unless it is printed papers where you can send over 2kg the limit is 2kg for a small packet.

:)Hi everyone. Sorry if this has been asked before but I want to send a parcel FROM Greece to mainland UK. It's 5 kilos and 30x30x30 in dimensions. Does anyone know of a company that's cheap for international deliveries TO the UK? Thank you.

If it is from a Business address, then https://www.parcel.to are £30.39 + VAT.

Don't forget you can track its progress but be aware they do have some weird entries from time to time.

I have had no issues from using myHermes since the recent RM price increases, so hopefully your experience will be the same.

Thank you, I have just tracked it and it says 'missing pre advice' :rotfl: that's a good start.

Had a quick look on google and that is common, it should be fine!

I see that message more often than not.
Bear in mind that unlike other carriers sometimes the tracking can be over 1 day behind what has happened to your parcel. you need a laid back attitude to tracking to live with myhermes.
