I have never had a problem taking a package that was booked for collection by their driver direct to a depot where it is scanned and put into the system. I've done this with most of the common couriers over time.
Indeed - most couriers allow this - but having the option available stops the driver making a wasted journey & calling which for me can sometimes be very early in the morning!
I've found all the drivers happy to collect items left in my porch. Suits me as i can still be in bed or out and suits them as they do not have to wait for me to answer the door so they are off quicker.
I do this too but I guess it depends where you live. And I don't do it when I have two different couriers booked to collect!
(Husband once handed all parcels for collection to one courier, cue me anxiously retrieving some from their depot and taking to the correct firm's depot...may as well have delivered them myself lol!)
You can use code HCBGJXDS3BCS to get 25% off your first parcel sent using myhermes service. It works once when you register and book a parcel at https://www.myhermes.co.uk
Well the mother of all surprises.
The tracker was updated yesterday, after I had wanted to make a claim for my missing parcel, and it has been scanned at the Raven RC, wherever that is.
Does anyone know about this Raven RC?
looks like a depot around london

HDNL dealings (with tracking info)
http://real-deal-blog.com/2010/08/26/hdnl-home-delivery-network-slow-delivery-problems/
Fired a scathing e.mail off today, not expecting a reply until tomorrow, and got a reply stating that it had "been found" at the Raven RC, and that it would be sent onwards.
So I asked why a parcel with the correct information on it TWICE, going to Perth in Scotland, should end up at somewhere except the customers address?
I am awaiting their reply tomorrow, and will post it in full on here.
Parcels do get incorrectly routed as a result of human error. The worst one i have had was from UK to Netherlands that went via Spain.
What is unacceptable is the amount of time it has taken to find it and get it back on track.
So I bell them up, again, and get someone who is about the same age as my youngest daughter, and ask her what's going on. She apologises profusely, and tells me that it has been despatched from the Raven RC today, and the customer should get it by the end of the week!!!!!!!
I tell her that I could have walked from Ossett to Perth in that time, and that if I were her, I would feel embarrassed working for her company, and having to apologise on their behalf for their shortcomings.
So I then ask about compensation for their failure to deliver inside their own delivery window, and she gives me an e.mail address to write to. I won't hold my breath, but needless to say they won't EVER get my custom again.
