Big hugs for Lame wolf and Mumto5. Seems like you have both been knocked for 6. Unable to offer any practical advice but hope we can offer a sympathetic ear for when you need one.
    Ditto.

Quoting Bossy Moo (Don't know how to do multi-quote technical stuff)
Have made dinner and it has spat all over the oven, just having a cuppa till it cools a touch and I will wipe it whilst warm :A
    ?
Is that where I've been going wrong all these years?

Stage 1 of The Great Oven Clean has been achieved and, totally amazingly, bits of it are actually sparkling. Not entirely sure when Stage 2 will be tackled. Don't want to overdo things. Maybe next year .....

New-to-me washing machine is on its second load. Excellent.

Skint breeder. I have been to Clacton once. I'm in no hurry to go back! ;)
Good intentions, nice to know there's a local here! Last Tuesday was hideous for the gridlock. "Luckily" my children were ill so we didn't get caught in it. They don't go to catchment schools so I drive daily.

Today, I have got NOTHING done.

Well went to toddlers speech therapy session. Then into town. Except I couldn't get parked. Do went to b&q to take back tree lights and get some more. So I had to strip the tree to put the lights back on.

Well, I will do a HHC at 1830 if anyone wants to join me.

    Love, hugs and spoons

Hugs to Valli too, it's really upsetting when the little ones are hurting. They do bounce back easier than us oldies though x

HB, a couple of years ago I had it professionally cleaned. It wasn't cheap but it is a range with side by side ovens and a 6 ring hob, plus grill and warming drawer. I vowed from that day I wouldn't let it get so bad. Cleaning one oven is bad enough, but two??? Yuk. Anyway, now I use c00kerliner in the bottom (with a tray for the fan oven else it blows away :rotfl:), dishes with lids, roasting bags etc. anything to keep the spittage to a minimum.

Anything cooked uncovered or for a particularly steamy cook up, I try to wipe round the oven when it's warm, before grot dries in place. Of course, it doesn't always happen :o

But it has tonight :T and I wiped inside the grill area too! With my cinnamon zoflora. We are very festive here :rotfl:

Well done! Your secret is safe with us x

Beastlet's not ready for bed yet, that'll teach me to have them nap... Still, they are being quite good, they love all the fairy lights, and are doing the magnetic drawing boards, DS is writing his name <cue proud mummy moment>

  • Hi there

Get well wishes for all those feeling poorly or who have had falls, and at last, I've a few spoons I can give out! Juliejim, was it you who asked how long I had my cold (apologies to whoever it was if not you). Well, I had a really heavy cold for 10 days, and then a dry, tickly cough for at least another 5 or 6 days. My throat has only just stopped being dry and hoarse, this is 21 days later, I think. My poor OH has had it now for 10 days, but has been really dizzy with blocked sinuses and a raging sore throat. Just today he has started to look and feel a bit better. I do hope anyone with this soon improves, it's horrible.

Anyway, today I have flown again! Got some Xmas and other stuff from loft, half the bungalow is cleaned and hoovered and I gave all sinks and taps an intensive clean.

Walked neighbour's dogs and been to work and sorted more cards, and made an urgent phone call and some necessary texts since coming home.

Dinner heating up! A yummy home cooked meal I made earlier and it's just finished microwaving and smells nice!

POURING down here and really cold, so I hope everyone keeps warm and dry in this wintry weather. Good vibes to everyone, R x

Valli: Not sure what secret codes ^ there are floating in the ether, but if it involves cooking sherry - I'm in. I'm sorry if unmentionable things have driven you to drink, tho'.

Thanks for the tip Bossy Moo. I had thought about getting someone in to do the wretched thing for me, but lurking at the back of the cupboard under the kitchen sink was an evil chemical with a brush bought in 2002 especially to clean the oven. I hate, loathe and detest the job, so I've been putting it off, and off, and off ad infinitum. I now realise that the evil chemical is just the thing and I wish I'd tackled it years ago. I'd decided that if it didn't work I was going to admit defeat and get the professionals in, so I've saved myself a bob or two there, which is just as well, given all the machines I've been buying lately.

    Am now flat broke.

Bits of the house are sparkley though and if I had to give anyone a present, I could always offer to do a carpet or two, or clean their oven.

    Bah humbug.
    Better is good enough.
  • Mumto5, hugs for you. I do hope things soon improve for you and your DS. You must be at the end of your tether and I know mum's often bear the burdens and end up as 'piggies in the middle'.
