    great

im going to bump as it will help me remember which ones ive entered as some im doing after midnight and some when i get up the following day

So because it helps with your comping you are going to bump ? There is no need to bump unless the thread needs that days answer or there is a problem that needs sorting. All the new non advent comps that are being posted just after midnight are being lost in a sea of advents that are being bumped just to say what that days prize is when after 2 or 3 days it will be quicker to actually click onto the site to see that days prize than it will be to scroll down the thread.

i see nothing wrong with bumping with the days prize

a lot of the comps dont have the direct link straight to the comp

Well if it is a case of a link being different then maybe but more than half of these are being bumped when there is no other reason than to say what the days prize is and with there being so many it is pushing the new comps further and further down the board which is going to take everyone so much longer to find and enter. You have already said you are bumping because it helps your comping so i guess if someone is that selfish then they will just carry on doing what they want regardless.

theres no harm in it, comps get pushed down the board, big deal, they get pushed down anyway

i have to scroll through 10-13 pages of comps by the time i get on here in the afternoon but you dont hear me complaining

But you scrolling through 10-13 pages before you get on here in the afternoon would be because new comps have been posted, i'm sure when people wake in the morning who comp as comps are posted would have to normally scroll through 3-4 pages to finish the comps posted overnight but now because all these are being bumped for no other reason than to say what the days prize is or as you said because it helps your comping ,they will have to scroll through double if not more searching for the new posts.Maybe your argument may have carried a little weight had you not stated you do because it helps your comping! I'm sorry but I see a problem if someone is bumping posts because it helps there comping even if you don't , goodnight.

I honestly don’t see any issue with Advent comps being bumped with new prizes; new questions/answers; members saying they’ve won or even a bit of banter. Yes, the Pringles thread got a bit silly, agreed.

chelsea1969, if you are wanting to see ‘new’ competitions, why don’t you view the comps forum in ‘newest threads’ rather than ‘newest post’? It would drive me mad trying to locate new comps if I was viewing in ‘newest post’.

I would want people to bump with the day's prize and answer if needed. It saves me time; if it's not a prize I want or offer I would take up, I thank the poster and move on. Similarly with the answer, it saves me having to google the answer.

Bumping to say you've just got 20% off, that I don't like

I quite like a little banter, if it's only bumping the comp up a few posts.

    Comments:

    1) Where a comp is providing lots of prizes, so is likely to attract lots of 'I won' comments, then perhaps someone could start a thread either on IWIWIW or CCC and add a link on the comp thread. That way folk could chat and post their wins without bumping.

    2) As the advents are crazy anyway, we should probably all prepare for a little madness. My solution is to have another glass of mulled wine - it works a treat :D

    3) Someone (Painkiller?) posted at least one advent in a really clever way. They've added blank posts, enough for one per day, so they can add the daily info without bumping. Great idea, though again, there will always be a little bumpety bumps between friends.

    4) I also won a Pringles speaker :j

    5) What is a Pringles speaker? :rotfl:

I agree that this is the most sensible approach. I not even deliberately looking at the advents, but even so, came across loads yesterday on the main board and I appreciated those that people that had taken the trouble to bump to say what the prize was. It meant I did not have to waste any further time if the prize was of no interest.

Obviously if there is a new question or a problem with the comp then the post will need bumping but with there being so many advents would it not be a lot quicker for users if they did not have to scroll down to the end of the thread before entering only to find nothing of importance has been said and they could have been getting on with entering in the time it has taken to find this out. We even have some advents where the OP has listed the prizes when posting yet they are still being bumped to say what that days prize is, where is the sense or need for that? But obviously if someone is doing this because it aids their comping and no other reason there are those who agree with them and think this is fine. I do see we are not all going to agree on everything and a bit of banter at times is good for anything but with there being so many advents maybe there are better places for this to be had than posts that are being bumped onto the main board. As I said earlier in a few days time it will be quicker to click onto the site to find what the prize is each day than actually scroll down the thread.
Anyway enough said by me on the subject off i go to find something else to moan about .
