As already pointed out, Multiroom is an entirely different procedure. The box has to pass the callbacks, or you will be billed for 2 subs.
the installer checked the phone line was live the first time I got sky installed, when I later got multi room, he checked extension box was live and that the original phone line was live so he checked my phone line twice

Weird. We've got Sky, the guy came, connected the Sky box. Didn't even ask about the phone line and said bye...

Got my 3rd multi-room installation in last week. Engineer normally leaves me 10m of phone cable as I request no permanent cabling.
The latest guy was a topman. Spent loads of care and attention on install.
Fitted new dish with the 8 way feed (could have used old dish)
Cut away various old analogue cable for me.
    Fixed my gutter.
Ran me a 4th set of cables as I have a spare box.
Gave me spare fittings and an HDMI cable.
This time did not even leave me phone cable.
Did mention some installs the occupier is overlay concerned and insist he fits as per sky regs.
I have had no problems now with no phone connection for over 5 years. I have had numerous tweaks/box changes/conversations with sky ops.
    Am I really just lucky.
I believe Sky do get some dosh from BT in these circumstances.

Unless they also get money from Virgin (unlikely) then I don't believe you are correct. Sky accept a landline from any provider as long as it is fixed and operational.

I ordered sky last night with the promise of not needing a phoneline by the guy on the phone. I shall report back on Saturday when they come to install. Ditched my landline this week 60mb Virgin and Sky with Entertainment Extra for a grand total £35.75 after using the MSE code and haggling with Virgin.
  • Our Sky system was installed without a phone line ever been installed in our house.
BT were to install a cable to our new house but postponed the works for 3 weeks.

We rang Sky who said ok we will still send our engineer as arranged.

They did and we still havent plugged the system into the phone.
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left!

You really only need to rectify that situation if you have multi-room. Sky will charge for two full subscriptions when the monthly call-backs fail from both boxes. If you only have one digibox, however, you can be safe in the knowledge that Sky won't ever seek to enforce the interactive discount.

Sky insist that you have a dog if you are taking Multiroom, however if not youll just have to pay the fee. Also ordering box office movies and sports events would have to be done over the phone.

As above, get a better deal from wierdy beardy.
Well we've had it then because we haven't got a dog, only a cat.

I appreciate this must happen. But how then for customers like myself with multiple multirooms for years and no phoneline connected to any box.
No warnings, no double/treble charges, no hassle.
    Again I ask ? Am I just lucky ?
