Do I NEED a phone line for Sky??

I haven't had my Sky box plugged in for years, basically because I don't want wires running across my floor. My Sky box is as far from my phone point as is possible without it being in the garden :rotfl: so the signal would be weak anyway. I order a film once in a blue moon and do that by phoning them up and pleading ignorance!0

u can pay a one off fee of £25 (paid at the time you order) to allow sky to be installed without a phone line (well they did it when I worked for them) but doing it this way prevents the box being upgraded and using services as other posters listed above0

But if the OP follows the advice on this thread they can save themselves the £25 fee.0 -
when I initially got sky installed, the installer checked the line was live when he installed it, then when I got the multi room in, the installer checked checked both extensions were working so just a warning to others0

They'll also charge you extra for ordering films etc over the phone if you haven't got a phone line. That's on top of the £250

What a pain, I don't even want to order films because I use Netflix anyway! Will arrange the installation just before my Virgin phone line is cut off0

Got it sorted. Rang Sky and they're going to waiver the fee for me if I go ahead with the installation (and give me a £50 credit too!).0

As already pointed out, Multiroom is an entirely different procedure. The box has to pass the callbacks, or you will be billed for 2 subs.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
