I haven't had my Sky box plugged in for years, basically because I don't want wires running across my floor. My Sky box is as far from my phone point as is possible without it being in the garden :rotfl: so the signal would be weak anyway. I order a film once in a blue moon and do that by phoning them up and pleading ignorance!
  • u can pay a one off fee of £25 (paid at the time you order) to allow sky to be installed without a phone line (well they did it when I worked for them) but doing it this way prevents the box being upgraded and using services as other posters listed above
  • sorry forgot to add, it's called a manual enablement charge!!

But if the OP follows the advice on this thread they can save themselves the £25 fee.
  • when I initially got sky installed, the installer checked the line was live when he installed it, then when I got the multi room in, the installer checked checked both extensions were working so just a warning to others

They'll also charge you extra for ordering films etc over the phone if you haven't got a phone line. That's on top of the £25

What a pain, I don't even want to order films because I use Netflix anyway! Will arrange the installation just before my Virgin phone line is cut off :)

Got it sorted. Rang Sky and they're going to waiver the fee for me if I go ahead with the installation (and give me a £50 credit too!).

As already pointed out, Multiroom is an entirely different procedure. The box has to pass the callbacks, or you will be billed for 2 subs.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
