Unfortunately it's a brand new hospital so right on the outskirts of town. It's in Swindon so about 20 miles from home and I don't know anyone there. So driving and parking are my only options. Although I am taking my Mum with me so hopefully she'll pay half.... thought taking a second driver would be a good idea. I may not want to drive home!!

I've just found a wonderful (if some what hit and miss) way of getting a new book. I have a Waterstone's card. I don't often shop there, but every little helps! They send out a newsletter which includes completions to new unpublished books and all you have to do is write a review!

I studied Literature at uni so this is easy and I now have a brand new, not published until May book to collect on Friday! Then I email a review to them by 16th May!

How Moneysaving, I don't even need to pay postage!! :T

Oooh do tell us more - I'd love to do this!

Waterstones are trying a loyalty card scheme in the South West and in my less DFW days I signed up and get a free e-magazine thing and they run competions. I think they do some through their main website to.

But it was very good and all I had to do was write a book review. But check the website as I'm sure they have some there.

  • Lucy,
Two things that I will suggest:
    1) There isn't much point saving money when you're paying such extortionate rates of interest - chuck your savings at the most expensive debt.
    2) Consider https://www.gumtree.com to sell your stuff as it's free to list on.

    Morning all

No I haven't burnt out. I had yesterday off to go to a hospital appointment which they cancelled  now have to go back on the 14th

Had a few more books sell over the weekend which is good, need to parcel them up tonight.

Dontdodebt - I know its daft to save while you have debts. But I want some money behind me in case my car needs work on it. Secondly I should be able to save some while I'm over paying on everything. The aim it to use that money to try and knock big lumps off and repay eariler. I know that I could just add that to the monthly repayments but it gives me a buffer should I need to get my hands on some spare cash. (I like to be prepared for everything now!)

Inthered - Sounds good, I've not looked into Mystery shopping. But I hope it all goes well. My spending is going ok. Spent a little more than I'd have liked over the weekend. But as I still have some money in my purse and I'm on budget it should be ok. I now have £66 waiting in my Amazon account to be transfered over on the 11th, while I'm really excited about and I'm still on track to pay off another £80 from my overdraft :j

So doing good. All of my direct debts have left my account now and I only have 2 weeks of petrol and spending money to take out. But I'm going to do some piggyclicks today. I need to get tomorrow morning off as we have a Sky engineer coming out, We've been having problems for a while rang them up and Mum realised she has been paying for a care package which means we don't pay the £65 call out fee and have all the parts free! So hopefully we'll get that sorted out.

One of my friends has moved into a new house so I'm spending loads of moneysaving time round there as she doesn't have much money now either. But all in all a very good weekend. Just need to spend a little less next time

Well I have just logged into Internet banking and I was wrong I still have my mobile phone bill to leave my account  but as I knocked £30 off this from the month before I can cope. Still on target and feeling good about it all.

It's funny I can't wait until payday, not because I don't have any money, but because I can't wait to pay some more money off my debt and work out what I have available to spend for the month.

But I would love to take my overdraft out of being £400 and something to being -£300 and something. It's all the little things isn't it! I'm hoping that I'll manage that this month. As ever I'll keep you posted on how I get on.

I just wish I'd found this site eariler and my LBM had happened years ago. Still better late than never I suppose

I know. And what I find nice, is I have stopped thinking I can just go and and buy something. I want a small temporary greenhouse thing for the garden and hopefully I'll be able to afford one soon. But I am currently shopping around to see where I can get the cheapest. I've seen them for about £15 and going for cheaper than that!

I'm please with my progress ok at the moment the debt isn't being paid off much quicker, but my attitude towards it has change, which I think it the great thing about this site. I know I will never get myself into this situation again. A good learning curve!
