Tesco vouchers stolen by new homeowner

Hi - I don't know where to get advice about this but here is the story.

We moved house last August and Tesco have still been sending my Clubcard points to the previous address. I received the November ones as our post was still re-directed but the Feb ones, £17, was sent to the previous address despite me calling Tesco to update my details at the end of last year.

Anyway, having spoken to Tesco this morning, my vouchers have been used

I am furious. I called up the people who bought our house - totally uncooperative and refused to agree they had been used before speaking to his OH. Fair enough I suppose. Anyway, I lost my rag and hung up.

He doesn't have our number to call back but does have our address.

I believe that opening somebody elses post was illegal

I am so mad - anybody got any advice ?

Thanks

Tesco shouldn't have accepted them at the store they were spent ... haven't got one in front of me but I do know there is a note on them with words to the effect that they can only be used with the card holder number on the vouchers.

Check your vouchers to make sure it has that printed on them and then raise that issue with Tesco if needs be.

I thought the vouchers had your club card number on them and that you had to use a card with the same number for them to work.I would ask Tesco about this.I also thought that opening someone elses post was illegal.Sorry no advice.I can understand why you are so mad.

I had understood the club card thing too, that the numbers had to match?

I think the matching thing is true, but the staff at my Tesco don't check. I recently used my colleague's vouchers with my club card and it wasn't challenged. Fortunately their laxidazy attitude does me well for Schools vouchers. I often come away with half a dozen after spending £2.50 :)

    UPDATE

I have spoken to Tesco and have details of when the vouchers were used

exact date, time and location :D

We now live well over 2 hours away and the store they were used at is only minutes away from the previous address - proof enough me thinks :T

So, OH has phoned him back and given him the info, inc the fact that interfering with other people post carries penalties of up to 6 months or a fine.

I suspect we might be receiving a cheque for £17 very soon

Or Tesco should reimburse you for allowing them to be cashed by another person.

Good luck getting it sorted, I was sort of lucky, when I moved house I had a catalogue I didn't use, changed address but they sent new catalogue to the old house. Anyway the new occupier ordered almost £1000 of goods from my account (limit was £1000 and I didn't have anything on it so she ordered to max). I was extremely lucky as at the time my Mam was covering maternity leave for the person who delivered the goods. She brought them to my house, I couldn't believe it!
One day I might be more organised...........
