No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries in December

  • Oh dear, December was going so well... but I fell off the wagon today.

When I went away in October I tried Chanel's Sycamore at the Duty Free and I loved it so much I've been thinking about it ever since. I also tried to buy the Coromandel nail polish to match the lipstick I bought and they didn't have it in stock.

Anyway, I was in town today and discovered a Chanel store just opened in Covent Garden, and they stock Les Exclusifs perfume (Sycamore is part of that range), so I got that and the nail polish.

I guess at least it's something I've wanted for months rather than just a whim, but would have been good to prove to myself I could go a whole month without spending.

But then just two items bought in a month where I've broken off my engagement is not bad going for someone who usually tries to spend their way out of unhappiness.

    Ins from Lush yesterday

Lush Ultra Bland Cleanser sample pot
Lush Angels on Bare Skin cleanser sample pot
Lush Angels on Bare Skin cleanser 100g
Lush Breath of Fresh Air Toner 100g

Tried the Ultra Bland tonight with the Toner, its worked really well and liked both. My one issue was that I went through quite a lot of cotton wool pads to remove my make, do you think it would work as well if I sprayed the Toner onto a muslin cloth to remove, or is that a silly idea.
  • A long awaited for UU - Soap and Glory Foam Call shower gel. WIBA? Absolutely not. I want my shower gel to either smell gorgeous or of nothing at all - this is somewhere in the middle.

I suppose it could be considered to be good that it lasted so long from an MSE perspective, but I got no pleasure from using it.

When I used to use Ultrabland (think I might go back to it when my cleansing oil runs out) I would remove it with a damp wash cloth that had been soaking in warm water. It's a lot gentler than a muslin cloth and still got it all off (and it's good for the environment as you can just wash the cloth rather than throwing away a bunch of cotton pads!)

Thank you will give that a go tonight.

Ins. : Marc Jacobs daisy gift set. S glad I got this half price (24.99) in the perfume shop sale!

I'm very jealous. I ordered one from Boots but it was 'only' a third off. Did you buy yours in store or online?

I hope everyone had a great Christmas (or survived it at least).

I was feeling quite smug on Christmas day when I didn't open any toiletries at all, not even from my brother who has bought me a TBS set for as long as I can remember.

That all went wrong yesterday when I opened pressies from my OH's family and from work people!

    INs:
    L'Occitane Lavande Foaming Bath
    L'Occitane Pivoine Flora Shower Gel
    L'Occitane Amande Shower Oil
    L'Occitane Hand cream
    L'Occitane Foot Cream
    L'Occitane Soap
all in a lovely pink washbag

    Sanctuary Body Wash
    Sanctuary Foaming bath milk
    Sanctuary body scrub
    Sanctuary body lotion
    Sanctuary luxury bath float

    Sanctuary Body soufffle
    Sanctuary Body butter
    Sanctuary cocooning body butter

    Champneys skin comforting shower cream
    Champneys citrus blush body lotion
    Champneys hand and nail cream
    Champneys relaxing dream bath

    Cath Kidston shower gel

Planet Spa Thailand lotus flower body souffle
Planet Spa Thailand lotus flower deep pore cleansing face mask
Planet Spa Thailand lotus flower bath and massage oil

phew! I was going to hit the sales today but looking at that list I don't need to. I am now fully stocked and back to owning about 7 200ml body butters which I think may last me a life time.

Love my gifts and quite glad I have been restocked but not bought anything myself.

Now to resist the sales anyway ...

A really lovely UU today - Mary Kay Microdermabrasion sachet - steps 1 (refine) and 2 (replenish). Best face scrub I have ever used - would definitely buy again although I have about 7 of the Olay Daily Facial scrubs from when Boots had that glitch where you got them free! I don't like them though, find them a bit scratchy, so might take into work or to the charity shop.

Total £4151.44 | £2900.30 of £7051.74 paid off since diary started October 2024.

Just realised I missed a stocking-filler IN from my daughter. A pack of 25 Pure age-defiance cleansing wipes. She cheerfully admitted they were a pound-shop buy - I've tried them and was pleasantly surprised.
I saw Cranberry Joy shower gel in the BS sale - 250 ml for £2, if you miss out on this, Avon do a Cranberry & Cinnamon shower gel which is 400 ml, currently on offer at 3 bath & body items for £4.
I absolutely love it, the only drawback being the tall bottle and small flip-top cap, which makes dispensing a bit fiddly. Have my eye on my son's nearly empty 700 ml shower gel bottle for decanting.

Just UU a 5ml sample of Avon Genics Treatment Concentrate, which is a pre-moisturising cream (rather than a serum). WIB?

The sample was worth a fiver - it's not a cheap product! I cut the tube open, I don't often do that with a sample. I won't be buying.

I am doing quite well holding wrinkles at bay with items that are lower priced. I do love Avon's MagiX matt face perfector, which is SPF 20 and a third of the price. I gave one to my daughter in her stocking, I hope she uses it!

I rang a friend earlier to see if we were meeting up today - she is a wheelchair user who has to use oxygen to aid breathing, but is able to get out and about. She isn't well and the doc was on his way.
She doesn't normally say she isn't well unless she is really ill and I'm worried. Your thoughts for her would be appreciated.
