No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries in December

Kitty_Ears wrote: »ALSO (I know I am hogging this thread but I'm excited!) I planned to take all my old, half used toiletries to the ward that I work on for the patients. A few are rushed in, dont have a bar of soap, deodorant, face cream etc and the shower gel the ward provide smells like men. Women don't like it. Once I spoke to a few people on the ward & the sister, she said it wasn't possible.
I may just keep a can of impulse in my pocket for quick sprays for the dears!
Our manager let us bring in toiletries for the patients, we just had to decant them into specimen bottles for each patient. This is how I managed to get rid of Christmas presents I didn't like the scent of! No such luck this year!
Have a couple of IN's from Christmas;
- Mr Frosty gift from Lush
- Small S&G gift of mini's
- Bayliss and Harding Rose gift

Noelphobic, I am sorry to read that you feel that you have been fed to the wolves on another thread. Hope we can make you feel a bit better on this thread. We came back home yesterday after celebrating Christmas away from home. While away, I popped into Boots to buy my favourite face mask, Origins drink up mask which they don't sell nowhere near where we live. My current one is nearly used up so this was a justified purchase. No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23

I also colour code it so I know what needs to be used first. I knew it was time to join the challenge when I mentioned these spreadsheets at last years work christmas meal and it stopped conversation dead..... I know it sounds a bit ocd but it works for me.
Good idea! I saw a post on another forum where someone had everything listed on an app on their phone so they whipped their phone out whenever they were tempted in Boots.0 -
A UU to report:
Alberto Balsam green apple conditioner - WBA as it's really cheap and does the job although I do find I need to use a deep mask (like Aussie 3 min miracle) every week or so to counteract drynessMy debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

I second that, aren't they dreadful, there is no way they would be that horrible in real life or they would spend the entire time sporting black eyes. They must be quite stressed people so bow out and ignore them.
Hugs to anyone else in need.
And - I am an Avon rep and I know what you mean about those shampoo labels, they look faded and really old. The shampoo is really nice for the money though although it does cause a reaction with me which is most unusual as nothing else does.
Kiplingmonkey - I wish I had been at that works do when you mentioned your spreadsheets. I cringe for you whenever you mention it.
I called to see a friend yesterday, I hadn't been to her house for a while and hadn't seen her DH for ages, I was shocked when I saw him, he was diagnosed with ME less than a year ago and is barely recognisable now. He has put loads of weight on but it looks like the type of weight you put on with medication (puffy and soft), he has started twitching, can't make eye contact and can't hold a conversation. Is this normal with this condition, I know of few on here have it and just wondered?Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Afternoon ladies,
Hope you have all had a good Christmas. I have one IN to confess to: got the naked basics palette.
I am steadfastly avoiding the sales this year as I really don't need anything and am determined not to waste money on anything unnecessary this year.
Happy pampering, xo0 -

I also bought a few things from Lush yesterday, which I will declare later, I have never had Lush stuff before so really looking forward to trying these. The only stash item now in control is shampoo, one in use one in stash. (Plus deodorant, toothpaste and soap which I have never bought in bulk)
At least I won't need to buy anything for a while. I have 2 more Amarya boxes to come then I'm not buying anymore beauty boxes. Hopefully 2013 will be a cheap year. Unfortunately think I've got enough lip balm to last the rest of my life.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas, hugs to all who need them.0
