ALSO (I know I am hogging this thread but I'm excited!) I planned to take all my old, half used toiletries to the ward that I work on for the patients. A few are rushed in, dont have a bar of soap, deodorant, face cream etc and the shower gel the ward provide smells like men. Women don't like it. Once I spoke to a few people on the ward & the sister, she said it wasn't possible. :( I may just keep a can of impulse in my pocket for quick sprays for the dears!

Welcome. That is nice of you to take something of your own for people to use.

I haven't bought a thing in the sales and am very proud of myself. It was quite easy though as I haven't been out shopping and the couple of things I saw online sold out really quickly.

Ok I made an inventory it's not quite finished as I know I have other bits lying around and I have stuff in use too, I have not included makeup items just face/body lotions and potions and perfume

It has so far exactly 200 items on it! OMFG!!!

I have not made a list/inventory, but what I did do which was extremely helpful, was to organise everything into type, it is still in several drawers and boxes in bathroom and bedroom, but all the shower & bath stuff is together, as is the body lotions and butters (my bete noir!), shampoo, treatments and conditioners etc. This has helped me to use up the oldest first and most importantly, when I start to feel the need to click on a buy button, or notice something in the shops I can mentally picture what I have (lots of really lovely things) and this deters me from buying more. I think a list would have been a good thing to do, but it would have been a bit of a pain for me.

That's a brilliant idea - might have to do that myself.

Total £4151.44 | £2900.30 of £7051.74 paid off since diary started October 2024.
  • I am going to make an inventory later. We only have one cupboard where I keep "my stockpile" but it does help, esp. while I have been at uni, I rarely bought new toiletries except for tampons and toothpaste.

Just walked into town to pick up Lynx gift sets for Mr.Kitty. Managed to get quite a few for £10 which was my budget. If I have any more spare pennies at the end of next week, might get him some more. I find Lynx to be quite expensive if I get it with the food shopping.
Now I am employed, lets get rid of this student debt! :D:D

Hi everyone, hope you having a good christmas. Foul and disgustingly wet here today, so having an "in" tidying day, not yet got to my cupboard of doom where there is about 6 months worth of statements etc to be sorted, shredded, filed or whatever, must try before the new year, it would be lovely not to start 2013 with it hanging over me:eek:.

Back on topic, 9 ins to report, namely L'Occitane travel sizes and a Nougat travel set, which is so beautifully boxed I haven't opened it up yet, must make sure it does not become a PRC, but have a lot of other things to use, so will keep it until I (hopefully) get a nice holiday sometime.

I'm having a "in" tidying day myself. I'm so happy to have a day off, but spent this morning actually doing work. Not being successful at doing this whole work and personal life balance lol

I have several UU's that I forgot to record:
Lush phoenix rising - the colours were lovely, but slightly too cinniman-y for me.
Lush - butterball bath ballistic - so moisturising wow
Lush - christmas eve bubble bar - has to be my favourite bubble bar to date. I love things with jasmine in it so this did the job x
Clinique - moisture surge - just one more day and this will be done. I love this stuff so much, it gives me just enough moisture without being too greasy

    GA:
3 unknown branded nail polishes, lovely reds but had too many so put this into a gift basket
2x sinful nail polish - a hot pink and a gold glitter - forgot the names
Lush snow fairy shower gel and magic wand
    Lush twilight shower gel
    skinfood bb cream sample
    tonymoly liptint sample
    6x MAC pigments
    GA total: 16 items

    Total items out: 20
I know there is more but I should have kept better count.

sorry I've been MIA myself, but yes send me a request and I'll add you all.
I liked your idea of a "New Year/New Stash Swap" :j
So far, only one person showed interest, once we get a decent sized group, we can do this.

I'm eager to start this, because I really want to clear out my stash badly and start fresh for 2013:A

I want to note that I think I am changing quite a bit, I can feel the change. Last year I was going crazy and wanting to buy 10 lipsticks, this year, I am tempted by 2. huge difference. this thread is awesome! You guys are so encouraging and supportive!

Just a couple of INs as gifts - a lovely "Gorgeous Feet" Boots foot care gift set, in 50ml jars.
Foot soak, scrub and moisturiser in beautiful glass jars with lovely pearlescent pink tops.
I use foot creams at the start of the day under cotton socks or tights, rather than in bed. My slightly dropped foot means that bed socks tend to slip off - and I hate getting greasy creams on the sheet/duvet cover.
I kept meaning to try clingfilm on over cream at night, as it's supposed to be brilliant, but I no longer have any hard skin on my feet thanks to this thread and 2 years of pampering!
The soak is an odd, syrupy substance but was very pleasant to use and dissolved beautifully.
Also a 'So' body spray - my daughter bought me this, she remembered buying it for me as a teenager. As her daughter will be a teen in 2014, you'll appreciate that this was some years ago.

    Also, a sort of confession.
I bought a 700ml bottle of Avon 2in1 mango & ginger Naturals shampoo intending it to be a stocking-filler gift for DGD - we have the same hair type, and I thought it would suit her.

It's a great shampoo for me, but when it arrived the plastic bottle looked an odd dirty cream colour and the label was dull looking too with poor colour reproduction. Plus it's a BIG bottle...

My own 250 ml bottle looked brighter, cleaner and much nicer... so I cleaned mine up, got the top off (phew!) and refilled it carefully from the big bottle before gifting.

So an IN for me of c. 550 ml Avon 2 in 1 Mango & Ginger Cleansing & Balancing Shampoo.

Sounds to me like everyone wins with the shampoo:)

Good idea about the foot cream, I don't always use it after shower as I wear sheepskin slippers or mini Emus without socks and don't want to get them greasy, but must try it your way when I wear socks and boots to leave the house.

  • Evening all, and a belated merry christmas! Hope everyone had some nice time off. I had to go to work today and tomorrow but I was getting bored sitting in the house anyway :D

I got some lovely pressie ins (almost like I told them exactly what to buy me :o)

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish, Skin Tonic and Skin Repair moisturiser.
Which came with a free Eyebright and mascara (I did need these, I am almost out of stashed mascara!)
And then they included a free 30ml Cleanse & Polish and muslin cloth with the online order, the generous people! Thanks to everyone on here who recommended the LE website, they really are very generous with the freebies.

Also BS Japanese Cherry Blossom set with Eau de toilette, shower gel and body lotion, which is lovely.

And an Issey Miyake gift set with perfume, shower gel and body lotion. This is my favourite perfume so I am a very happy girl :j

I have avoided the sales so far but do have xmas money to spend!

  • Got a couple of INS for christmas; a Boots cocoa body butter, a frizz ease style serum (have horrible issues with frizzy and tangled hair), la petite robe noire perfume (will save for special occasions), and Naked basics palette. Thankfully not too much!
